The whole Somali History is a mistery.

Somali waa Dir iyo Daarood.
no no Somali waa dir iyo daarod iyo isaq...

If there is a Q about the history of a Somali clan, then there is a q about the whole Somali nation.

There's probably some truth to it, it's just a matter of finding the connection.
For instance according to the Afar, the Issa are the descendants of Issa son of Gurali son of Caxal Mace. Issa Gurali's descendants, the lineage of Nasar ek Madina, intermarried with Dir and Isaaq, and at some indeterminate point began identifying with their matrilinear lineage rather than their Afar patrilinear lineage.

Dir aren't a unified group, Dir is really quite old. Unlike Hawiye, there isn't one main Dir lineage like Hiraab Gorgaate Hawiye, the closest would probably be Maxamed Xanaftire Maahe Dir, but the members of Maxamed Xanaftire are scattered all over Somalia. The strongest clan of Dir is Mandaluug Maxamed Xanaftire, which includes Samaroone Saciid (Gadabursi) and a bunch of other clans you've probably never heard of. Biyamaal Maxamed Xanaftire is probably the second strongest, and they live along the coast of Lower Shabelle, which is rather far away from Awdal.

The Madaxweyne Dir live all over the place, though the only Madaxweyne Dir clan you've probably heard of would be Akisho. Dir aren't concentrated in one particular place.

Hawiye are also scattered all over Somalia but the only branch people know of is the Hiraab lineage of Maxamuud Gorgaate Hawiye. Madhibaan who live in the north are Maxamed Gorgaate Hawiye. That's not even counting the other Hawiye subclans who live all over the place. People don't even know that half of the Dir and Hawiye lineages ARE Dir or Hawiye, they only know about Maxamed Xanaftire Dir and Maxamuud Gorgaate Hawiye.

i thought i would never witness this day lol
the laan gaabs of yesterday(darood, isaaq, n hawiye) are saying that dir doesnt exist

i bet a hundred dollar that dir is larger than darood, isaaq and hawiye.

hawiyes have this old story talks about dir and the stories go like this.
hawiye and dir were together both recently married. so dir wished hawiye for 6 boys
and hawiye wish dir 100 and some boys, dir shocked asked hawiye why so many
hawiye replied out of all those i wished you to have i wished only 4 to be muslims
the rest jahils.

so thats why you have to many clans and tribes outside of somalia and ethiopia that resemble somalis.

i just wanna say to those who think that dir to be laan gaab or some myth then f you motherfocker.
your the one who's history is shaky and unknown case in point darood and isaaqs is it me or these
tribes origin seem so similar
2 arab men supposely of binu hashim came n gave birth to millions of people today.
