Actually you've got it a bit backwards. In the American civil war, the north was an ethnically diverse land that vastly outnumbered the south, with their hierarchical ethnically homogeneous society.
The North side just plain plowed over the South by sheer weight of numbers.

More like feeeling sorry for her than being afraid of her return. He was nating afore and history will judge him as nun enetity in somalia as long as it alife.
