The shame is actually on Marexaan as a whole for not providing our youths viable alternatives to joining these groups. The fact that the average Marexaan youngster thinks joining Shabab is the best thing He can do with His life says more about us then them. Whats even more amazing is Marexaan were in a prime position from 1998-2005 to really build something, considering they were united under one leader, one mowqif.
I agree with you on Al-shabab, but simply choosing the other side, only to go back to this is not a brighter alternative.

So how do we move head then?

Very simple.

If You look at Marexaan recent History from the late 1980's to about 2000, Marexaan have been in constant nonstop clan wars. Raxanwein, Col Cabbas campaigns against Ogadeen, then the Darood Vs Hawiye wars, then USC in Gedo, then JVA campaigns against Harti/Absame, then Garre in Elwak. Marexaan pretty much had their way militiarly in all of these wars. By the time 2000 came there was literily nobody else left to fight as Marexaan consolidated their power in the South. When it was time for Marexaan to build something Gov't wise they slowly started turning on each other. Then these groups like Shabab came and swept up the youth who were sick of this nonsense.

-SADE Bari started to really get into it and things have been flaring every since
-Cabdi Cigaal, Jaaamac Daahir start to oppose Barre in Kismaayo and things got more and more tense there between Marexaan until the climax in '06
-Even the former tight knit Reer Gedo started fighting along clan lines

My solution?

-Actual real, big dhib u heshiin conferences sponsored by qurbaha in Caabudwaaq, Gedo and Kismaayo. The hate between Marexaan subclans right now is real and shouldn't be ignored
-Marexaan Shabab literily get brought out to leave these groups. They get a mishaar monthly to join a Gedo or Caabudwaaq police force.

Btw, Guys relax with the panic this isn't a big deal. The whole Koonfuur waa meel iska qassan, its not like everybody else is orginized and Marexaan are not. Name one clan in the Koonfur that You can really say is united and has their stuff together. This is Why I supported Sh Shareef's Gov, because Marexaan deegan is really in the South now and this idea that You can build a house (Jubbaland) in the middle of shid doesn't make sense to Me. A peaceful and orginized Koonfur means a peaceful and orginized Marexaan believe it or not.

As for Col Barre, My advice to Him if He's still on His plan, is to join His militia with the militias of Shareef's in Xamar as they will surely clash with Shabab soon. An enemy of Your enemey is Your friend, and that would be 1000x more noble than using TPLF.

TPLF cannot build a Jubbaland only a united Marexaan could.

I remember the words of adeerkay alle ha u naxaristee, Cali Shire Warsame, when he said to the SNF-al Itixaad groups in 1997:

"I will go to Kismaayo, build a government, and will return to remove you squabbling morons from Jubbaland and Somalia, just wait and see".

But his time came in 1998, shortly before the liberation of Kismaayo.

CoolP, it is true he named them after the sons of Ugaas Diini but unfortunately, he didn't finish it. Dalal is missing.

It does wallahi. I am willing to elaborate it by adding another statement of General Axmed Warsame but this is a public forum. Surely, these kind of topics are meant to be private. If our problems are internal then should we discuss it internally.

Murax,

This is atleast the 2nd or 3rd time you've refered to Zeylaci to take his battles to Burco.
The man isn't from Burco but from the Hargeisa/Gabiley region.

Voltage,

Sxb for awhile I've been hearing this passive type talk from You saying theres no reason for Marexaan to take an inititive, sooner or later it will be in the hands of a Gov anyway etc. This logic is wrong and makes no sense. 1st of all, Somalia hasn't had a Gov for 20 years and nobody is trying to wait another 20 without basic Gov instiutions. This Gov may work out, or it May not but right is on the side of Xoogsade on this one in not waiting for the calvalry to save the day. You need to change that passive thinking.
