Peace,
I believe the girl should be the first to be asked!
Then her dad!

congratz on your engagement to be. i hope she says yes.Heat05 wrote:Serious Question about proposals
I know the protocol of going to the father of the girl and asking her hand etc etc.
What I am unfamiliar or uncertain of is the proposal to the girl....I mean, I know the most important thing about proposal is how the guy brings over the message/proposal and how sincere and passionate he will deliver his love and proposal for marriage to the girl. Thats logical.
The question I have is: ''is it our culture/tradition to give her a ring or other gift during the propasal?
Also,
The date is set: a special date.
The place is set: first place we dated
But feel free to give your best spots or dates to propose!
as for how to do it, there aren't any rules huuno. don't stress yourself out....remember the most important thing is that u want to marry her, say it with sincerity without all the bells and whistles. personally, he asked me over a cup of coffee(i was drinking tea.lol) and i said yes....and we lived happily ever after.
Re: Ladies (And Gents): Come in!--Marriage
Zulaika,
over a cup of coffee? Thats unique...there must have been a prior convo which paved the road for him to propose at a coffee/tea session
BTW, congratz with your marriage
BTW, congratz with your marriage

okay.Heat05 wrote:ms.naliaa wrote:Heat05 wrote:Ms.Nalia,
I am asking to make sure and see whether other people can give me better ideas.
I have the CONCEPT Plan....but a few days Insha Allah then its final.
What location or date do you find romantic for proposal?
I would pesonally rather have it a private place.....maybe u should go for a long weekend and take her somewhere near the beach....at night...![]()
![]()
Miss.Nalia,
I am constrained by our culture/tradition...otherwise I would've taken this thing to a whole different level, surpass the long weekend, at the beach in the night etcc...
But the thing is, I havent asked her hand officialy...so her family do not know...nor are they aware of our long relationship...
This is the kind of girl that cannot be outside the house after it gets dark...so a weekend or a whole day outside of the house, with a guy is out of the picture.
So my options are limited ...deaar Mis.Nalia
PS: who is that lovely girl on your display?
heres an idea:
Plan something with her family.
Get her paretns to send her out to get something...then you go hide int he house...call her from ur cell phone in the house...ask for her...talk to her for a little bit then when shes all calm say " I wanna ask you something" she will say "what honey" and then u say "I have to do it in person" then you come out wearing a suite looking handsome...take the phone off her hand, sit her down and tell her "you are the most amazing woman I have ever met blah blah blah" "will you do me the honour of being my better half and life partner" somethign like that..
p.s. the girl on the display would be yours truley

Dude xaaladu haday xumaato and your getting desperate do this:
1.Meet the dad and tell him your going to marry his daughter, if he says no say "Well she is already carrying your grandchild" and then he will freak out.
2. Tell the father not to worry and that you will marry his daughter bastard child and all and that no one will know about his daughters pregnancy prior to marriage.
3. Take you possessions, I mean your wife adiga ayay kugu qorantahay at that point.
Dude this a fool proof plan, but only haday xaaladu xuntahay
anyways how can you marry a girl you have not even lived with?
Re: Ladies (And Gents): Come in!--Marriage
Ms.Nalia,
I had that kind of ''surprise plan''.
My version went like this:
First go to her sisters, informed them about the plan, then go to her father ask her hand, and get to know her mother...then set up the plan:
''let her dad and mom tell her that they found a man (of their liking) for her and that he asked for her hand and they agreed....''
''Then when she disagrees or rebells, give her an ultimatum: ''either do what we say or leave the house''
Her sisters (who know about us) would advice her to follow the decision of the parents eventough it is painfull....
I would tell her not to do it, and after much fuss and hearing the ultimatum I would advice her to follow her parents and would sacrifice myself
After much drama and crying, she would be told to give this man 1 chance, just 1 day to look at him and talk to him to see whether they match.....and then I would appear in her house next to her dad
You and I should be a directors of a romantic movies
Anyways, things dont go like that in reality, and I think that the proposal is just the first step towards a long and difficult phase to actually live together as married couple. You know the fuss Somalis make, especially if both familis are the opposite in almost every aspect.
PS: I prefer the girl of the type ''Yours sincerely''........is that her second name?

Thats a bit sinister and would toatlly backfire on you if u did that to me
p.s. Yours truley means "me" so the girl on the display is me...
got it?
Re: Ladies (And Gents): Come in!--Marriage
Backfire?
Thats the ultimate test of her true love for you...if she went through hell to not marry a man her parents have chosen for her but to marry me.
That kind of movie would be within the triller-romantic genre
PS: I was teasing you miss-yours truely...nice pic

lol @Heat there are so many funny things you said I don't know what to quote
You should try your plan see what happens. Ala qosolka I can imagine some interesting senarios..she says fck of to her parents in which case you will be the evil son in law oo gabada waalid keeda kudiree or she might not cry that hard over it after all..she might run away and tell you to join her...she might..Warya why aa is dhibee?
FYI Any guy who would go to the girl's parents to discuss marriage without speaking to the girl first is not thinking straight. Who the hell does that any more? Ma sankaa iska galgalin?

Abdiwahaab
Dude there's a big difference when your living with someone, there are people you can stand when your just chilling but once you with a person on a daily basis from sunset till sundown you'll be annoyed by the slightest of things once you've moved in together, waa common knowledge saaxiib. I am just saying have a nikaax and then live together for a bit and then worry about marriage a ring and all that other stuff.
