Gordon Gekko: The point is ladies and gentlemen that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of it’s forms - greed for life, for money, knowledge - has marked the upward surge of mankind and greed - you mark my words - will not only save Teldar Paper but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you.

greed is not the problem as my main man Gordon Gekko so eloquently put it. the problem is lack of regulatory oversight.

What about all the other legtimized methods to con the masses and all the other companies the SEC has turned a blind eye to over the decades? IMO, this is just a needle in a haystack, I predict more arrests will be made and more whistle-blowers will come forward in the next coming months.

Palm beach pawn shops are the places to shop at these days.

Niya,

My buddy had about $150,000 in home equity and took off for Bosaso right before the crash. He invested his funds and is very well off in Somalia.

I should have made out when I had the chance.

Nobleman,

Keep your money in a safe bank

Zulaika,

I prefer cash not settlements. Btw, I hope Obama pushes for the "Buy america" act and locks those British loving, tea drinking neighbors out

Aerosmith,

Indeed. But its too late. At the height of the boom, if you were a mortgage broker, you made out like a bandit.

Kolombo,

It wasn't legitimate because there were no laws against such practices.

The AMerican legal system always plays catch up and is reactive to situations after they have blown out of control.

"My administration is committed to making sure that even as we take steps to strengthen the U.S. economy, that we are doing so in a way that actually over time will enhance the ability of trading partners, like Canada, to work within our boundaries," he said.

After hard lobbying from Canada, the European Union and several prominent U.S. corporations, lawmakers in Washington added a caveat to the provision to clarify "Buy American" must not violate international trade agreements.

Obama said he expects "a lot of governors and mayors" will demand the stimulus projects buy products and services from U.S. companies, instead of foreign competitors.

"But … we are going to abide by our World Trade Organization and NAFTA obligations just as we always have," Obama said.
