Dangirl; To a certain degree Greater Somalia has gone. It is still possible in the sense that we all have separate regions, but have one joint military force and economic force, and one greater co-joint parliment (this one will be tricky). The economy one will be tricky too, cause I'm sure some regions might be making more money than others, but we would have to support each other, maybe give some money more to others so we can all be economically at the same pace, or be near too. Greater Somalia doesn't have to be us not having our own countries and self-determination, doesn't have to be that people in other regions are going to be ruled from mogadishu, each region can have their own capital and etc. Much like the model of Great Britain. It is not perfect model, but it ensures that attacking us won't be an easy feat.
I hear you. United against common enemy and the whole nine yard while still maintaing self-determination sounds good. However; the odds of that happening is monumental in proportion but we'll see what the future holds.

Horta, the way I see it you can't possible join Somalia, anytime soon. The main objective is to heavily fight for freedom and independence. I don't believe the international community will support Ogaden if they want to join Somalia, they might see it as threat to Ethiopia. I don't see why though, we wouldnt want to fight them unless their starting trouble or oppressing our people.

I have to say though, I don't agree with majority rule if they are opressing the miniority and are not being treated equally.

BTW, I am Mudulood, why are you calling us ants  I've never heard of Absame until I came to snet, but I've heard of Ogaden. Abgaal are part of Mudulood, just like Ogaden are part of Absame.

Yungfresh;
Yaroow are you calling me a doqon? :x

You are correct in saying that the help of Somalia would be valuable towards the struggle for freedom and independence, but I disagree with the notion that it cannot be achieved without Somalia! It can be with effective fighting and the right connections (with outside world). Also, whilst the fighting is not technically for ISLAM, this is muslim blood being split, and as such we should fight with them, and yes Ethiopia might have muslimeen, laakin it is controlled by a miniority Christians.

The name shouldn't be an issue bro, because runnti I didn't even notice it! Didn't care that there was also a qabil with the name Ogaden. If my son was to say, 'Mum I'm going to fight for the Ogaden region and for their freedom,' I would not refuse simply because the name of the place will be Ogadenia and that coincides with the name of the qabil that mainly live there. :|

It was my pleasure huno , anytime:rose: :rose: Those questions were well thought
I assure no one is oppressing the minority, that is just propaganda used by the Tigre regime to cause more friction between the fellow somalis living in the region, there was an incident last year whereby in the town of Danood ( settled by isaq clan), ethiopian troops killed lot of civilians and burnt they villages and later blamed it on ONLF..is all tactic to hamper the struggle..ha u bixin

  wallahi huno never heard of mudulood, so excuse my ignorance  ....and wallahi you are so right in saying the name shouldn't be an issue, but there are some narrow minded people out there that are blinded to see beyond the name... 8-)

abakar20" Munique, i think you need to calm down walaal. Imagine that region was dominated by any random clan for example, MJ. Would you think it's right to call the region 'Majerteniya' and name the resistance as 'MNLF'? You see how it wouldn't work? I think the reason why you are annoyed when people question this, is because you think people are questioning the efforts and patriotism shown by the Ogadeni people, yes?

Bro i understand where you coming from but re-naming the region or onlf is not the solution .many countries in africa changed their names e.gZAIRE now called congo, RHODESIA now zimbabwe & yet the cleasing keep going..Im annoyed because these narrow minded people place so much emphasis on the damn name, why not worry about the more significant issues and instead of directing their criticism at the tigree regime they take lame shot at ONLF/region's name..

You should know that the Ogadeni struggle is never forgotten but yes it undoubtedly would help when is becomes a broader Somali national cause. Imagine the ICU was called the 'Hawiye Islamist Union', do you expect everyone to support it and invest in it when it will only remind them of past clan rivalries and whatnot? Of course not.

The ICU and Ogaden are two different things,..one has historical significance attached to its name the other doesn't,..majority rules, minority rights, Plus, they are the only clan that is fighting for the liberation of Ogadeniya so they have every right to dub the region with any name that they like and besides how many regions/countries are name after people, i.e Kosovo, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia..

I personally have never concerned myself with the name ONLF because i am more concerned about the atrocities carried out by the Woyanne regime,
You are contradicting yourself, if you sincerely believed in that statement than why question the legitimacy of the name of the region/ONLF

but saying the Somali region is majority Ogadeni tribesmen therefore it should be called Ogadenya is not a legitimate excuse! Should Djibouti be called the nation of the Issa's and the Afar's? Should Rwanda be called Tutsiland? Should Burundi be called Hutuland? No! It should be the name of a place representative of the entire region satisfiable with everyone!
In universal politics Only the representatives of the nation can change its name ... and the last time we had independently elected reps was 1993 we had the only free and fair election that time and every of the 9 provinces and 48 districts of the Ogaden chose their own parlimenterians...

and they disscused whether they change the Name or Not... and all of them they decided to keep the Name since the world knows it as Ogaden. and in that same year the fairly elected Ogadenian parlimentrians proposed that we need freedom from Ethipia. so Ethiopia attacked them all and killed some prisoned while almost all of them took the Arms that ONLF now bears. So our last Government said we should keep and we keep till we Get freedom and choose our own representatives..And right now OGADENIA needs the end of the OCCUPATION,INDEPENDENCE,BOTH POLITICAL,SOCIAL & ECONOMIC but narrow minded people like yourself will never understand

grow up for gods sake

the region will be split up into provinces that have their own names, Ogadenia once retrieved shall lose the name Ogadenia and become part of Somalia with no clannish name.

there was once MAREXANIA, MAJERTENIA and many more land masses called after the clan living there, they were all changed into Gedo, Nugaal etc etc. since we are in 21 century we should lose the Ogadenia name and give its provinces good names inshallah  :som: :som: :som: :som:
