When you have questions, go search for answers there is enough knowledge out there to quench your uncertainty. Steer away from ignorance, pride and talking from anger and without knowledge. Remember that even on the net your good and bad deeds are still being recorded. May Allah guide you
many philosophers who are atheists/agnostics will try and debate you about this issue and they will try to shake your faith on this very question, i had some lively discussions in my Philosophy100 class my freshman year and wrote a paper on the problem of evil and how these philosphers relied on too many logical fallacies
could you kindly summarize those "too many logical fallacies" for us. I have doubts about your sincerity.
Firefly, the problem is not the existence of God in a world filled with human suffering. the problem concerns what God, in Abrahamic faiths, is touted to be. In Islam God is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and omnibenevolent. the existence of Evil poses a challenge to those conceptions of God. if Evil exists then one of those conceptions of God has to give. for instance, God can not be omnibenevolent if He allows evil to prevail. maybe he is powerless but then He can't be omnipotent. or maybe He can't know all the evil that takes place in this world which would mean He isn't omniscient. every which way you look at, God has to be redefined to reconcile his capabilities with the realities of this world. all hitherto attempts at explaining this glaring contradiction has been sophistry. including the ones given in this thread thus far.

why the attack on the kid!
people can ask others and see the reasoning behind things.
in islam al akhlaq is very important and how we treat people and dawa in wisedon and best way you could.

Firewall, the simplest way to see life is as a play and God as the director of the play and you as the actor. You as the actor have the artistic licence to play your character however way you want to, but God will advice and guide you. If the play takes a difficult turn, well, it just makes for an interesting story don't you think? Besides, as Allah says....no harm befalls on anyone who can't handle it.
To be on the real though, God is not the root of all suffering....but suffering is there to make us appreciate the good stuff. If we never saw the bad, we'd never know the good and we'd never appreciate it either. So, thank Allah for every pain and suffering you see, because there's a purpose for everything that happens to you and those around you....walaahu aclam....God knows best.
