If you compare Somaliland to east Timor and their recognition for statehood by the world community, it raised serious questions of international law as well as sensitive diplomatic difficulties for the rest of Asia, as we all know the United States and many European Union countries accepted that east Timor should no longer be part of Indonesia although china and most of the Asian countries opposed the secession of east Timor from Indonesia.
To make long story short, the west came up with this new idea which gave Eat Timor and Kosovo their recognition, they said” Generally, once an entity has emerged as a state in the sense of international law, a political decision can be taken to recognize it." Though the Russian were pissed, and their Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in the UN "We are speaking here about the subversion of all the foundations of international law” My point is Somaliland case of recognition is much easier than east Timor or Kosovo,s cases, but the problem is not the west , it is the Arab world that are crusading against Somaliland recognition, and that is the biggest obstacle Somaliland has to come over.
So my dear peace, your point of view and opnion is based on emotionality not facts.
peace, made a good point earlier when he said african nation's will be digging their own graves becouse every african nation has about 2 or 3 regions that seek secession.
To bad somalia has not a government but the thing is Somaliland and Somalia joined each other bila shuruud way kala baxeen bila shuruud so there for its irrelevant for Somalia to have anything to say about Somaliland existence. The only thing that can be done is referendum lugu qabto Somaliland gududhiisa again but we had that one 2001 97% said yes to Somaliland. But we can held another one hadana from lawyacade ila yoocade we will have another referendum and u you will majority will say yes to Somaliland.

According to the African charter , the African union recommends for keeping colonial border, but when it comes to Somaliland: the African union says no to Somaliland,s colonial border because of the Arab pressures, its all about politics
Arab African nations and Somalis that are Anti-Somaliland begin their arguments on colonial borders against Somaliland; they believe changing the colonial border in African will breakdown in many areas of other African countries, same arguments peace is initiating.
