Re: Muslims Invented Everything in the 7th-12th Century!
sadly we have fallen to theselower depths beucase we have allowed subverisve alien thinking to infiltrate islam,
ofcourse mulsim society was successfull initially becuase of its openess to ideas but sometime in the 13th century we lost the abililty to filter out these subversive influences and they have taken root since then.(probably due to the mmongol catastrophe)
an example of this alien thinking is something practically all of us have adopted from birth due to our education and upbringing,
it is the seperation of knowledge into religous and secular.Infact reliogion is seperated from most subjects and is put in another package, this is something new something that came after the 13th century..
all our great muslim minds, ibn sina, al farabi, ibn rushd etc etc, started thier education in a malcamad memorising the quran and learning hadith,
most of the muslim scientists were also experts on fiqh and hadith as well as the other areas of science that they became famous for.
the seperation of thought and learning infact everyday life into secular and reliogous is western and today it is also part of us.
after the 13th century the scholars withdrew dogmatically into religion and study and left the world while in europe the people were rebelling against the
stiffling influence of the church while feeding in the lost knowledge that flowed into europe from the muslim world via the reconquista, the fall of muslim sicilly and the crusades.
look at us today, our culama are just specialists on the quranic memorisation, tafseer and fiqh etc..
while most have no idea about economics, sociology, political science etc etc, they cannot thus function properly in todays world and are of minimal use to the umma...
inshallah when our ulama are also scientists in the forefront of scientific research and are also doctors and engineers then we can see a new fruition of power in the muslim world, we need to go back to the past, for us modernity is bacwards and the past is modernity.
we need to go back when the muslim wolrd produced goods and manufactures that had no equal in the world in terms of quality, back to when the muslim craftsman working in his guild was not only working to create but was also performing cibaada and dikr with his work.
those scientistswere also not only motivated by curiosity, as mulsims they were also performing worship to allah by studying his creation .

Re: Muslims Invented Everything in the 7th-12th Century!
at its hiegt the muslim world was the most advanced and ofcourse most of the things in that list are not muslim invention but simply areas were muslims
excelled at and reached the top.
The closest challange in terms of technology and science was southern sung dynasty china,
but what is intriguing is that in the 12th century when the sung were at the top of the world in science and technology,
thy had a policy of encouraging immigration from the muslim world, and employing muslims.
by the start of the ming dynasty muslims practialy dominated all the technical fields of the government,
the first ming emperors armourer in charge of the production of canonns and muskets was muslim(a khawarizmi refugee actually), his 2 top generals and closest friends were muslims, the head of the imperial observatory was muslim as well as most of hi staff.

Alluring, we are in so many ways related to Arabs as we are the product of two races.
The rulers were of Qureish family from Mecca, but there were few exceptional individuals in the category of inventors who were pure Arabs.
Ibn-al-Haytham, the father of Empirical methods (the first true scientist) and the author of the book of Optics.
Al-Tusi - who first argued that the earth rotates around the sun in his marvelous astronomical work and his invention of navigational tools. His work was later copied by Copernicus.
Jabir Ibn Haiyan - the Father of al-Chemy and Chemistry, known to the Europeans as Geber. His quest for takwin literally the creating of artificial life in laboratory has been of critical interest.
He invented the alembic--apparatus to distill alcohol, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid,
Ethanol--though elaborated more by al-Razi, and the concept of "alkali" - the substance that neutralize the acid. And he published many books on chemical properties, weight and their measures.
al-Kindi, a philosopher and scientist. The first ever scientist to think of time, space and matter. His thoughts will come in the form of relativity--the relationship between matter, time and space. So Eistein actually copied his work.
Read here the Arabic version of relativity, translated:
"Time exists only with motion; body, with motion; motion, with body....if there's motion, there's necessarily body; if there's body, there's necessarily motion"

Gurey good point, I concur with everything you said!
Paidmonk, What? chinese were eating snakes and bull penis, when Muslims were separating chemicals and mapping the stars. don't believe this Western hype, chinese weren't as advanced as Muslims, they did a couple here and there but, not like the world wide muslim renaniancse that completely take the world by storm!

Gurey, while it's good to learn to be a multi-skilled person. You won't be expert in one field, but be a jack of all trade. The "division of labor" is of utmost importance. What we lack today is how to figure a system that coordinates this division very well and put its resources into a good use. Get rid of corrupt leaders and integrate your security, political and economic imperatives across Muslim regions.

That is the man

The Father of Science. My favourite scientist.

Why do people still believe this myth?Highland wrote:Alluring, we are in so many ways related to Arabs as we are the product of two races.
Somalis are a distinct people. We are not the product of any two races. Only a small minority of Somalis are mixed with Arabs. Most somalis are CUSHTIC AFRICANS. Our language, physical features, and culture is similair to other cushtic peoples like the Oromo, Afar, Saho, etc. The only thing that connects Somalis with Arab is Islam. Nothing else. We don't speak Arabic. We don't follow their non-religious customs. Our culture is nothing like theirs.
BTW I hope you know that the Arabs don't think of us as fondly as we do. Most Arabs look at YOU as they do any other black people from Africa. They look at YOU as a slave. Somalis in Arabic counties are called ABID.
Why on earth do Somalis still venerate these people? I mean it would be one thing if the affinity was mutual but the Arabs don't give a shit about us. Yet Somalis like you kiss their feet like slaves worshiping their master. Its sad that just because the religion of Islam was created by an Arab, our people have turned to worshiping and projected themselves onto these people that don't even like us. Just because your prophet Muhammad was an Arab doesn't mean that it somehow makes you closer to God if you are somehow an Arab.
I think its time for Somalis to regain their dignity. Stop worshiping these people that don't even like you.
