Btw, why are you accusing me of supporting Polygamy? It is something Allah made permissible, so I don't hate it... I hate what people do to things in the Islam. I have no reason to oppose if people do it correctly or use it in circumstances that befit it.

polygamy is a responsibility its not just a thing you are supposed to joke with, its also something which is abused and can destroy people, but thats on the people

allah says in other ayat that a man cant deal justly with them, but he made it halal because sometimes it can help a community

I think many things Somalis do is because of the culture, I dont think many people in the past or even in the present are fully aware of the dos and donts of the Quran.

Anyway, the other day I was watching this egyptian movie, it was about 4 female coworkers who also were friends. one was a doctor, one was a lawyer, one was an engineer and the fourth was a HR personnel. Anyhow, the lawyer one proposed an idea to her friends. She said that Allah has permitted men to marry four women, we are four and we know each other very well, why dont we all marry one man and instead of the man taking the upper hand why dont we be the upper hand. They all agreed and married one man whom all four liked.

As long as all involved parties agree, i think that is durable, not only they solved their problem of getting married, they also solved many financial problems as they all lived in a big place and shared all expenses!

But that does not mean what works for one, will necessarily work for another person. Some women are bit more jealous than the others and some are deadly jealous.

Kambuli, I might divorce my husband if he looked at another woman and you are talking about marrying. But not all women are like me, my older brother is married to 4 women, i can't say my sisters in law have no blood but each person functions completely different than others.

Sis, what I understand is that some people (read women) knowingly and willingly marry a polygynyst. Granted, it may not be a thing for you or I however, we shouldn't knock it for the simple reason that it's misused. As some said before, Allah made it halal, albeit with certain caveats but the fact remains that it is permissible by divine decree.

It is true that a lot of men (if not most) abuse the institution, they encumber themselves with a burden that they can not assume...they may be driven by selfishness, greed, lust etc...and they're dishonest with the women that are affected by their whims, more importantly, they're dishonest with their own selves. They do not think about the repercussions of their actions, the impact on the issues that may be born, some people even go so far as to make halaal that which Allah made haram...This is a sign of the end of times, little faith, little understanding, little knowledge...God Watches us all and a day will come when we will all be made to account. Forgive me if I'm mistaken but from reading your comments, it sounds as if you're implying that no woman would willingly accept to share her husband with another...
