Zul, I was denied visa and told, must be accompanied by a mahram.![]()
Who are you? Actually forget that no need to hijack a perfectly sound topic. Next time you disagree with my comment state your rebuttal articulately or at the very least make it logical.Kukri wrote:There goes the air-head black-velvet talking out of her backside!
traveling to saudi arabia? i think only them ask for this condition before giving you visa.Nabeela wrote:

lol@I refuse. Its not for you to refuse, its what the hadith says. I don't think Allah favors men over women, very ridiculous way of thinking to say the least since he created all beings including Jinn. Rulings like this are to safe-guard & protect women from the obvious dangers out there. Furthermore, some rulings came about as a result of specific cases and periods during that time, but since Islam comes as a package, we have to accept it all. I look at it as Allah knows what's best for all his creatures, even if we don't.black velvet wrote:Kolombo XaramI refuse
What kind of a life are you supposed to have if you are literally tied to another human being if that is what God wanted surely every woman would be a siamese twin
I couldn't agree more with your last 4 points - Allah does not favour men, He knows best, It's for the safety of women, During that time. All valid and logical points now if we use the same logic the Hadith is meant to protect and promote the well being of women of that time when rules like - men are to take care of their women's every financial and emotional need - was also practised. The world is not all that safer now so point 2 is unchanged however, given that women now live in a completely different environment point 3 is obsolete because now women have to fend for themselves. If you live in a 50/50 world you have to go to uni, get a job, make your own success story then you can't drag a maxram everywhere. Either provide for your women everything they need and let any outside ventures be for leisure or fall back on the point that Allah is not trying to make life more difficult for women and religion is not meant to be complicated. So technically although it is not for me to dissuade people against a hadith, it is for me to accept or refute the relevance of a hadith with regards to my life because at the end only I will be held accountable for my actions.Kolombo wrote:lol@I refuse. traveling to KSA alone or some other Arab country is very risky game that I would like to warn you, I heard wild stories of police officers raping women and accusing them of prostitution, if you are going there for Haj find close relative man to go with you or you can marry me for one month and I will be your Mahram how is that![]()
I think you've misunderstood the hadith...black velvet wrote: have to go to uni, get a job, make your own success story then you can't drag a maxram everywhere.
True but not all uni courses and jobs are straight forward 9-5. There are placements and seminars, class excursions and research, I don't think any woman would want to put herself at risk but some travel is unavoidable.Ms.Erudite wrote:I think you've misunderstood the hadith...black velvet wrote: have to go to uni, get a job, make your own success story then you can't drag a maxram everywhere.
Going to work, uni etc would not be considered travelling in Islam.Travelling in Islam is something that consists of a long journey, whereby one is allowed to combine their prayers rather than miss them due to the nature of the journey. Travelling to and from uni/work would not fulfill these requirements, as it is does not take many hours to reach the final destination, and you are expected to pray on time.
Islam is not restrictive and would not place unrealistic obstacles for women to overcome in order to live life. The requirement relates to issues like holidays, where people travel for a long time, to a foreign country, which are not considered daily activities and perhaps propose greater risk to the safety of women.
