Somalia was like a zoo run by a powerful gatekeeper. The gate keeper had servants working under him. One day some servants got fed with the gatekeeper and decided to oppose him. The gatekeeper used his chains to beat off the servants disloyal to him. The gatekeeper greatest fear was not the servants opposing him but the wild animals locked in the cages. The servants in their final throw of dice decided to sabotage the cages and broke open the locks. Seconds later wild animals have been set loose killing everything. The servants were finally over joyed. The wild animals have come to their rescue. Now they too can become gate keepers. Hooray

The gatekeeper was gone at last. Until they realised the truth. The truth which only the gatekeeper understood. These wild animals were truly wild. And they instantly turned on everyone including those hapless servants. In the end the wild animals have assumed total control over the zoo.

Maybe only maybe voltage the generation group that grew up from 1991 till now , will have some sort rebirth evolution, because they have seen dagaal they might just turn the other way. And never look back. Gaalku did a good observation and what he observed became reality in 1991 marku ciidanki qarranki reero oo kala ja jabay. Some how he told us what was going to happen. I am still shocked.

you shouldn't be shocked, the 70s just had policies that distracted the Somalis away from the qabil by making it a taboo and also the Ogaden War drums trying to mobilize the populace to make a Somaliweyn

but after using that, the CIA report became reality slowly in the 80s and culminated in the destruction of the state in 91

its something of a miracle that there was a somali state for that long

By God this guy is great. Hopefully CAPTAIN/MJPRIDE can see why his whole topic is pointless.

Servant supporters like Caydiid-supporting Ismahan will of course oppose you. The lady who supports the man that single-handedly did more damage to Somalia than Saytan himself.

ismahan my dear,

it's that simple. Siad barre greatest mistake was not executing his disloyal servants or in this case aideed and abdullahi yusuf when he had them in prison. He should have been like chairman mao.

Siyad was in tough boat. Comprising on one hand building hawiye and isaaq cities like berbera, hargeisa, mogadishu, etc. And on the other hand neglecting darod lands like gedo, bari, nugal, sool, sanag, etc. So there needed to be trade off. Hawiye and Isaaq got their cities built, whilst darod got the leadership of government. Sounds fair and all but noooooo hawiye and isaaq weren't happy with that outcome. They wanted their cities built and also running the country.

Life just doesn't work like that unfortunately, it is give and take. If isaaq person was president and started investing and building darod cities in 69, hawiye and isaaq would still go mad and jump around like lunatics.

So if the siyad is really assessed being fair to all sides, you can clearly see that darod sacrificed investment in their regions whilst hawiye and isaaq got their regions built. If only people are fair darod deserves something they didn't get their lands built, hence siyad gave them top posts in his government.

If i was him and in his same position i would definitely done what he did, and if hawiye and isaaq were in his position im sure they would also. But When they talk about siyad they just talk about the brutal guy he was, he was brutal because he was telling these people to SHARE which they didn't accept. They wanted the whole cake to themselves. They wanted their regions built and also top positions in government... Warkaas socon meeyso, qof kale waxaas lala tag. Thats why siyad started being brutal to them because they wouldn't be human beings and share the country.

May he rest in peace

 Voltage, ninyahow can't you accept people having different views from you, or did you inherit Siyad Barre's trait of silencing the opponent, but in your case, using personal insults? If you adress people in a calm manner, maybe people would take you more seriously.

Anyway, tribalism has always been a sensitive issue in Somalia. And clearly, going about it the wrong way has devastating effects. Let dictatorship and 1991 be a lesson for us.
