Re: What accent is this ...
Izzy,
I mixed up Xamari and just plane Reer Xamar accent, cuz we're tryna break it down to a qaldaan. The chick's accent is actually the accent I grew up around.
Voltage,
My family has been living in Xamar since the 30s, wtf are u talking about?

Osmand,
Seriously its hard to differentiate fnon banadiri's folks clan affliations if they are born or raised in Xamar. THey all talk the same....its a special mogadisho dialect. I can't believe you dont know that. My family is made up of many clans and they are mostly from Xamar and wallahi speak the same dialect.
Cinque,
Now we are on the same page,...waba iga yabisay. lool Yh its similar to the garam garam xamari I speak too, as my mom would say.

Re: What accent is this ...
Ismahan, that accent probably started late, cuz my family members born in the 70's and older in Muqdisho speak hardcore MR accent. Only the late 70's/early 80's crew speak like that girl and late 80's speak like the hardcore MR cuz they were raised in the dibbada with only their parent's accents as focal point.
And Cusmano is right, there is something called "Darod accent" but only Sacad speak it, even Cayr doesn't have it yahoow bay ku hadlaan let alone Murusade or kuwa kasii shisheeye, my grandma still calls Af Mudug af Darood

Re: What accent is this ...
Yes, Mareexaan and Cayr live in Galgaduud together some villages even close. Most Cayr speak in the southern Hawiye xaayoow accent and Mareexaan speak in the accent that goes all the way to Bari. Before couple decades ago, only the Sacad of Habar Gidir spoke it among the Hawiye so it is known as Af Darood and still used a lot especially Daroodka dhexdoodaKeyse_0208 wrote:u guys must be smoking crack or something, so u saying for example a gobol that has multiple clans would speak different accents...like two towns settled by 2 different tribes which are less than 50 km to each other..?Voltage wrote: called "Darod accent

Re: What accent is this ...
So how do we explain the Isaaqs who speak this vary dialect? If anything, just as the mudug descendent mixed reer mudug dialect with the xamaari, reer wooqoyi do the samething, then there are the ones who speak pure Mogadisho dialect. Ask luugoyo or Cawar, or Kolombo.
Leave it to Somalis to tribalize everything..accudubilahi mina shaydani rajiim.
Both my parents were born in the 60s one in Garowe, the other in Xamar but their parents lived in Mogadisho since they were teens. They all speak this dialect but have reer mudug variations as well.
