When one of Somaliland’s traditional leaders, Boqor Bur Madow, recently warned against attempts by Majeerteenya (Puntland) to dominate all Somalis, he was not saying something that most Somalis did not know. On the contrary, most Somalis not only see his utterances as stating the obvious, but also agree with him. In other words, most Somalis know what Majeerteenya is up to, and oppose its attempt to dominate them.

Those myths of majeerteen looking to dominate somali ppl is just talks by enemy circles..majeerteen want somali unity not because they want to dominate them but because this is what the world wants. Duceysane i know sland militia is weak because we faced them in 2003 when they brought everything they had and we defeated them. In 2007 when they defeated puntland, it was mainly due to puntland being in hamar and not guarding its region. Secondly it was also because of xabsade who formed a coalition with certain sub-clans of dhulbahante like jamac siyad and farax garaad and went to hargeisa to tell rayale that he wants sool to join sland. Rayale and this coalition attacked the half manned puntland and defeated them.

So really i know when it comes down to it whether u bring pm or tanks and jet fighters..everything u had in 2003 we saw, quickly defeated and remained solid in that land for 4 years undisturbed.

So puntland is aware it can defeat sland quite easy. It done it in 2003..it can be done again..

anyone who wants to subjugate a part of the population whether isaaq, darood, or hawiye cannot be allowed to rule, we have already been there and done that Siad? Look where that has gotten us.

May I suggest a co-consulship three leaders isaaq, darood,and hawiye with rotating years in office. This is only a contingency plan to get some stability and unity between people and get us fighting the alshaiyateen. After that we can build a more democratic government with voting etc... There should be checks and balances like preventing one area from being over developed where as whole swathes of territory and people are neglected, making appointments based on actual merit and education.

IT WAS BUR MADOW WHO NEGOTIATED THE PEACE SETTLEMENT AND SAVED PUNTLAND FROM CIVIL WAR.
