You have to give it to them thou, you either love them or loth them.

Which ever you pick, they are the royal family of the Somali nation.

Hawiye is complaining and crying about them.

And even their fellow Darood brothers are envious of them.

Mj are responsible For Puntland's peace and stability, yet the whole of hawiye combined with Dir cant get muqdisho under control.

Give credit where its due SXB!

Humbug! I (and think Jamaal too) go with Oscar Wilde here.

"There is only one thing worse than being talked about and that is NOT being talked about."

The how does not matter. Hitler was evil but he still gets talked about (Bernie praised him recently).

He was praising his leadership qualities. That he retracted his statemetns later is neither here not there.

So are you saying that you'd rather be remembered for being a cruel, twisted man than not be remembered at all by the world?

BV,
How many historical figures have you heard of that were really good and noble? They all, sooner or later, get criticised by historians. So, it really does not matter how one gets remembered as long as they get remembered.

I have not done anything to be remembered for yet but when I do, I sure hope it’s for something real bad (lasts longer this way).

I am puzzuled, why would anyone want to be remembered??. Many nations have come and have gone with them they took their good and bad deeds their knowledge lies with Allah and Allah only. Michael Jackson died 2 weeks ago he had all the fame and money unfortunately this all died with him. Basically what I am trying to say is the only history book we should be worried about is the one that we will take with us to our grave, want to make difference make a difference is your diin, for surely that book is what is destined to be with you forever.

You should ask yourself Jamal, who's history? History is always biased.

PB Don't even go there. There are a lot of people remembered for their achievements and positive contributions.

Albert Einstein
Marie Curie
Alxeandra Graham Bell
The Wright Brothers
Koitalel Arap Samoe
Nelson Mandela (granted he's not dead yet)
Omar bin al-Khattab
Mahatma Ghandi
Michael Jackson
Pablo Picasso
Ludwig van Beethoven

There are freedom fighters, inventors, scientists, leaders, musicians, poets, philosophers, artists...you cannot convince me that it doesn't matter how you get remembered - if that's the case for you, it certainly is not for me.

You can't control what people say or don't say but you are in full control of the actions which you will be judged.

BV,
Everyone on that list had people criticising them for one thing or another. Mandela (since he’s the one still alive) is, to this day, being called a terrorist by many historians.

I exclude the Islamic personalities of course (they will not be criticised by Muslims and not many non Muslims heard of most of them).

I gather the consensus here is that one doesn't go to history, it rather comes to whom so ever it chooses.

Laakiin its better to be non-existant in history than going on its dark pages like Hitler.

Finally, I conclude that if we are in the great scheme of things as Allah willed for our existance and thus has recorded us in his preserved tablets (lowxul maxfuud) then we need not to worry about being mentioned in this fleeting human history.

Ever wondered how allah (SW) mentions his honourable prophets in the Quran, to keep their names and traditions alive?

Allah (swt) says in Sura Saad (37:119) We left for them (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times;

this is the only rememberence thats worthed,

on the othe side of the coin, allah (swt) keeps a reminder of the wicked nations like Ad and Samud, and the wicked leaders like fircoon, mainly to learn from their mistakes.

so it all comes down to our actions bad and good and also how well we remember Allah.
