surrender-- uhm, what does that have to do with what was shared? because what was shared is dishonest. and, yes, christians were worse than muslims... but jews ended up in europe because of muslims. so, really, if you look at it that way... whatever happened to jews under christendom was our fault 
regardless of how they fared with the christians, it doesn't change the fact of our mistreatment of the jews in muslim societies.
