Whenever I hear stuff like this I think maybe the Sharia is a little unfair towards women, then I think thats kafir-thought.
Just remember that Allah knows better than us

Same happens in Sharia where the family of the perp can pay off the family of the vic to avoid punishment.

Thats only if the family agrees to it.

Secular law, one rapist walks free, one gets a year, and another 20 and the family gets nothing in each case.

thats not sharia

sharia lays the law one way, people do things another

you're trying to use the current ignorance of the Muslim world to discredit sharia law and that ain't right

If a man rapes a woman, more rulings added to what Shirib posted
In addition, the rapist is subject to the hadd punishment for zina, even if the rape was not carried out at knifepoint or gunpoint. If the use of a weapon was threatened, then he is a muharib, and is to be subjected to the hadd punishment described in the verse in which Allah says (The recompense of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and do mischief in the land is only that they shall be killed or crucified or their hands and their feet be cut off from opposite sides, or be exiled from the land. That is their disgrace in this world, and a great torment is theirs in the Hereafter) (Al-Ma’idah 5:33).

Shariica is an ambiguous statment of how the law should work: it is not a code. ALL current versions are culturally biased.
Pakistani huduud condones honor killings. The Saudi version is biased against the non-Khaleeji and non-Wahaabbi. The Sudanese version victimizes half the country's population, with international consequences which are now leading to a referendum.

You need to define your shariica, something which is not easy in any political context. !!!!!!!

CCC

Again, as I said. Sharia laws are ancient, with no relevance to what we know now. Hence the neccessity to hasten it's demise.

Shirib

NOT very often, i'm afraid. You rape in a secular country, you do time, NOT 100 measly lashes. It diminishes the gravity of the crime, and illustates the low status accorded women in the Islamic world.

No, it isn't. It's a problem of violence by men directed at women. Nothing to do with "blood money", whatever THAT was suppposed to mean.

FAH

Exactly, which is why secular law is far superior.
