Jihad is not only fighting a religious war. It could mean defending your community and ones self from evil and harm. Again, the SNA were oppressing women and children as well elders and young alike because of the qawiil they belong into. Therefore, the SNM stood up for us and defended our honor and right to live in peace. So by that defination, I will have to say yes the SNM plight was that of honorable Mujahideen fii umatill Durriya Ala Isxaaq.

The same can be said about the ONLF, but not the USC as it had done more harm than good. The USC was trecherous which changed its earlier motives and later took the path of ethnic cleansing of the darood somali clan family. That is where they went off coarse.

The SNM was founded on April 1981 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Now please enlighten the about the oppression and the perscution that people of somalia, specially the people of North somalia were suffereing from AT THE TIME (april 1981) that merited a violent rebellion...........................TAKE AS LONG AS U LIKE

p.s before you reply consider the fact that most of the top leadership in the SNM in the latter years were in fact goverment officials when the SNM was formed.
