Precisely, and tradition should not be criticized. There's really nothing wrong with it, it isn't in conflict with or deen and with our society being patriarchal it is relatively unimportant.

This, they claim, leads to a strong bond and a lasting commitment.
What they REALLY mean, is that this leads to an obediant, submissive, passive sex slave with low self esteem.

michael itali,
somali women have half of their small brains in the their big booty, and thats one of the reason its too big, a man should at least once a month use the back of his hand on their cheeks to knock some sense into them.

I think Highland u r mythisizing the widely well know ritual of the ogadenia or the qabils of somalia who live in the rural area. It is a well known somali custom where a husband will discipline his wife. In ogadenia--as a qabil they are below average in the intellectual sphere. Therefore, ogaden womens intellectual would be far below than the men.(thus understanding the rationality of the ogaden woman whipping) A whip or a stick is used to do the job. Uncle is right- somalis are the fore-bearers of bondage.

Uncle should know because he is mj.

(actually not somalis but the bondage emerged because of its necessity which i will explain shortly)
Highland what u r describing is NOT part of it. U r talking about slavery there. I think u have watched american movies about slavery.
Essentially, submissivenes is desired in women. A little whipping is not harmful. But i desire it during the act of copulation where my mind is wrapped in the role of submitting. But during the day, when i am wearing my work clothes with my hand bag- i will be severly turned off if my hubby whips out his whip and wanting to whip me with it. That would be out of context and bizarre!
But my curiousity is---When sex was first invented---was it deseigned to work properly by two opposite participants? One dorminat and strong, and the other submissive and weak? What is it in our programmed brains that make sex amazing by one one total dom and the other total sub? Like for example angry make up sex- why is sooo amazing or extraordinary? Romantics would want to call it "Passion" but i think it is far deeper than that. I think it is about violance and power. One has the power and the other is powerless. A complete order. Without these two components there is only disorderly dull sex.In the old homo sapiens days-- men were visually strong. Muscular, bearded, strong manly ordour, and women the opposite. Since then ,man has evolved into a more meek, gentile metro sexual creature, with slimness, no muscles, shaved beard, and less testestrones. So essentially, they r only Man by virtue of their hearts desire, which interestingly enough had not changed. They are left with masculine creative mind--that wants the woman to do weird rituals so he can feel strong and manly and therefore have a maximum performance.Thats why bondage later existed. Each sex wanted to execise their biological right. One to dorminate and the other to be beaten, cry, and therefore truly submit and delude or deceive the Man that he is ...."the Man".
Of course upon orgasm the side effects of the beating is regretful.
