Re: Paranormal Activity!!!!
I've never seen a movie that geniunely scared me.
Although, I was creeped out by the old man from the Poltergeist when I was, like, seven; but that was mainly because of his creepy, pedophile voice.

Serena, Shit or the shit? lol. Go on with ur brave little self. I'd have dragged u along had I not been afraid u'd ruin the movie with all ur unexpected shreiks, and gotten us kicked out or something. DVD for u, my friend. Stay brave!
Dionysis, (cool avatar btw!), I saw the hunting in the Conneticut too. Seemed hella dragged out, and dry...hmm. Not worth the time at all. And the only scary thing about the SAW series is that its just full of gore. The kicker of course being that it could happen to just about anyone that they get napped by some crazy white dude who decides to torture them in his dirty ole dusty basement. White people
Ire...lol@ pedofile. Are ya gonna see New Moon? The acting skills in the first was one were more Terrifying than any movie to date!!
lol.

Re: Paranormal Activity!!!!
SAW is torture-porn.
It isn't scary; it's disgusting.
Amy, I'm a huge Twilight-hater; I hated Twilight before hating Twilight was cool. There's no way I'm watching New Moon.
Have you read/heard about the last book? After I read the synopsis, I genuinely thought S. Meyer was punking us.

Re: Paranormal Activity!!!!
Ire...Yeah, I went thru all four of em' within the span of a month, a while back, when I had hella time on my hands. (lol). It wouldnt have been bad at all had it not had such a slow start and a horrid ending. Something humbling abt finding typos in there...lol...anyway it was mostly when one reached the Breaking Dawn, (the 4th one) that all hell broke loose. I knew her writing wasn't all that from the get go, but I was literally 2 chapters in when that WTF moment, hit me hella hard. Seriously? I mean Seriously?
Pretty friggin retarded all together. Btw, reading a synopsis is prolly like watching the first "movie". Doesn't translate well. Lol

Re: Paranormal Activity!!!!
S. Meyer is an awful writer.
The characters are awful: Edward is an abusive, seemingly misogynistic stalker who implicitly belittles and threatens Bella throughout the series. Bella is a weak, shell of a 'woman'; she hurled herself off of a cliff after Edward left her - a CLIFF. She's the epitome of an anti-feminist.
The 'plot' is awful: the entire series revolves around Edward and Bella's completely unhealthy relationship, and, other than that wreck, there isn't a plot.
The dialogue is awful:
"Bella, I watched you sleep."
"OMG, Edward, you broke into my room? That's so romantic! You're so beautiful!"
The writing itself is awful: Have you noticed the amount of times Meyer used the word 'beautiful'? I think she used at least eleven times in every paragraph.
The last book was...I still don't understand WHAT it is.
Edward ate the baby out of Bella's womb, right?

Re: Paranormal Activity!!!!
Basra, tell me you don't think the following dialogue is hilariously awful:
“Bella, I’ve already expended a great deal of personal effort to keep you alive. I ‘m not about to let you behind the wheel of a vehicle when you can’t even walk straight. Besides, friends don’t let friends drive drunk.”
“Drunk?”
“You’re intoxicated by my very presence.”
Or Zadie Smith. She's hip, modern and amazing.

Only if we start with a D.H. Lawrence or Faulkner novel first.Ire lets start an online book club, i like the way u r analytical of books. Fancy a good idea?

Yes, the dialogue is a bit mediocre, verging amateur barbarity, but there is a soul in it. From that line alone, i can surmise, the author is a feeler more than a thinker. Emotional , idealistic and compassionate. I think that is a plus credit for him.
Anyway.,.,...to our hopeful online book club
I have read Lady Charterley lover by Lawrence, and found it utterly frustrating. I get the feeling that lawrence was not a great author. a mark of a great writer is that he doesnt show himself or herself in her writing. Lawrence self comes out as ---sexually frustrated, homoerotic, gentle child like innosence that impenges on the growth of his art or craft.
What i dont understand in this book or the plot--why did he invent a husband who is plagued with crippleness and allows his sexually frustrated wife to mess with the gamekeeper? You may say he is a voyeur or just a whimp. I say- no -- he was a homosexual. His narration or as a narrator he related to gentile white ladies-- who have a typical homoerotic vision of the olden days gay closeted gentlemen. Essentially, lawrence was writing a gay porn mascerading under a gentle embicile, frigid gentle woman. No my dear.,.......pick some lively intelligent author.

Re: Paranormal Activity!!!!
I'll take your word on Lawrence - for now, at least.
I'm not old enough to read Lady Charterley's Lover; it's straight porn. :[
Faulkner, then?
Or Toni Morrison? Oooh, let's read about slaves, Basra!

LoooolIre
Well--Lawrence was an old guy.He wrote modern post victorian tales. I discovered him during my research on Jane Austen. He wrote a critical essay on Jane Austen novels called Regulated hatred. FASCINATING. I had an orgasm reading it. No, literally.
Ire...sorry i cant read toni morisson, yes she won literature nobel prize-- but nahh--not for me. She is a complex writer. I cant decide whether she is demon possesed or simply retarded, but not fully discovered. And i cant read any about slaves or the miseries of jews, it doesnt interest me. Victim stories is for humans not for me.
Faulkner.....maybe....

LOL@ire
No-- i purposely did not mention JA because i know u r not a big fan of hers or her type of stories. U r a tragedian more than a happy cinderellan.
U r more like Emily Bronte with her Wuthering heights than Jane Austen of Emma or Mansfield park.
PS: DID U know there is a new BBC for Emma? I cant wait to see it. although the actress playing emma is drastically and perpendicularly inferior to the Gwyneth paltrow or Kate B. who have played Emma before. This Emma is a little not Miss physical stunning 'right' as the characters calls for. I dont like her meaty fat nose.
Im delighted, at least they picked a good leading role guy--Miller. He is the sexy guy who played Edmond Bertrum of Mansfield park--the 1999 version.

haha. Harsh but so true....I dont think Edward was abusive, and misogynistic much as a character, though. In fact reading thru the damn thing, I kept thing what a fucker he is.

LOL! No, I think the baby ate itself out, but only because the shell was too hard for a regular scalpel to cut thru. lol. Pretty gruesome still, eh?The last book was...I still don't understand WHAT it is.
