The Prophet scw descended From Ismail Son of Ibraahim Who was semetic. Arabs are those tribes that Came to live Mecca when Allah gave ismail and his mom some samsam water in Mecca Valley. remember she asked them to pay her if they want to use the samsam.

All somalis think The Rasuul scw is an Arab.

So The Prophet's ancestor Prophet Ismail scw was not genetically an Arab but Just lived them.

A friend of mine is doing some aqeeda/fiqh studies (hanafi) and she learnt that Prophet Muhammed (pbuh )was not of the pure Arabs.

There were no Arabs in Ishmael's time, just as there were no Jews. Tribal concepts the size of "Arabs" came later. Coptic, Arabic and Hebrew are sufficiently closely related they were probably mutually intelligible or even a single language at that time. Jews have no problem with the idea that at least the northern Arabs descend from Ishmael. I know I think of the Prophet as an Arab.

His ethnicity is not important and irrelevant to the message of Islam. We worship Allah and fellow the message of Allah in the Quran not because of his ethnicity. Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him was born and raised in Arabia and was chosen by Allah to deliver the last message of Islam. No one fellow Islam because the Prophet is an Arab or non-Arab. Also at this time with so many centuries past its hard to prove either he was an Arab or non-Arab and frankly it’s irrelevant.

This is some hadiths known to refer to Arabs and Islam.

5897, on the authority of Wathilah ibn al-Asqa` who said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'Verily Allah has chosen Kinanah from the son of Isma`il, and He has chosen Quraysh from among Kinanah and He has chosen Hashim from among Quraysh and He has chosen me from the Bani Hashim.'"

hadith in Bukhari (#3500) on the authority of Mu`awiyah, may Allah be well pleased with him who said, " I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'This matter of government(leadership in Islam) belongs to the Quraysh. Anyone who takes a hostile attitude to them will be thrown on his face, as long as they are true to the faith."

And Bukhari also related (#3501) on the authority of Ibn `Umar from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and give him peace, that he said, "Government continues to belong to the Quraysh, even if they are (no more than) two."
