Re: which Xalimo can cook this Food's?
Its when I read things like this that I realize the lack of variety in our cuisine; bariis, baasto, suugo, suqaar, beer, bisteeki, chicken. Walahi I remember in Marka our cook used to cook a different fish based dish every single night accompanied by a veggie side dish. Even turning fish in to oodkac, not to mention the variety of veggies we used to see such as squash, spinach, watercress, okra, etc. Move away from the coast & its the same with every single city from Xamar to Hargeiso; bariis & baasto with meat side items. The same menu has been exported to outside the country, go to any maqaayad in N. America and check their menu. You'll notice the lack of veggie dishes, soups, appetizers, and desserts. Only the usual suspects are on the menu.
Ibn Batuta in his chronicles mentions while visiting Xamar he was served sweet bananas soaked in cold milk as a dessert. How come nobody makes it anymore?

it's not that the fact that somali foods have many fat's is the fact xalimo's over-take the daily calories for a woman though making them get fat.
basto iyo bariis , Suqaar , Berdh are basic somali food so can you cook them?

quote
" four things are necessary before a nation can develop a great cuisine. The first is an abundance of fine ingredients-a rich land. The second is a variety of cultural influences: the history of the nation, including its domination by foreign powers, and the culinary secrets it has brought back from its own imperialist adventures. Third, a great civilization-if a country has not had its day in the sun, its cuisine will probably not be great; great food and a great civilization go together. Last, the existence of a refined palace life-without royal kitchens, without a Versailles or a Forbidden City in Pe- king, without, in short, the demands of a cultivated court-the imaginations of a nation's cooks will not be challenged. "
