why arent my prayers answered?

There was this guy who was praying to God for 39yrs, and he never get his prayer, one day he just cried and become very sincere, and admitted that he has been a bad person, and his prayers would have been answered if he was good, so he blame himself and admitted that he made mistakes.
Then in his sleep the next night, he had a dream, and in his dream, God send him a message, saying that , he accepted his prayers the minute he become sincere, since he told the truth, and put the blame and mistake on himself instead of blaming God.

So may be that is what you need to do, instead of showing some attitude to God, and saying one thing and doing another, admit that you didn't give him his proper respect, that you need his help, you need to act weak, with humulity and sincerity.

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no Muslim who calls upon Allaah with words in which there is no sin or severing of family ties but Allaah will give him one of three things: either He will answer his prayer soon, or He will store it up for him in the Hereafter, or He will remove something bad from him that is equivalent to what he is asking for.” They said, “Then we should make a great amount of du’aa’.” He said, “Allaah is greater.”

Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3573; classed as saheeh by al-Tirmidhi and others.

"O people, Allah is Good and only accepts that which is good. Allah commanded the pious to follow the same commandments as He gave to the Messengers. He says: [O ye messengers! Eat of the Taiyyabat [all kinds of Halal foods which Allah has made lawful . . ." (Al-Mu'minun 23: 51). Then he mentioned a man who has traveled on a long journey and is disheveled and covered with dust; he stretches forth his hands to the heaven, (saying) "O Lord, O Lord", but his food is haram (unlawful), his drink is haram, all his nourishment is haram, so how can his Du'aa be accepted? Does that mean, I have been praying for the wrong thing?
