Voltage,

I assumed you were talking about a video of his lecture online. Too bad, but now I'm really intrigued and I agree with what you mean about some wadaads who leave a lot to be desired by the way they present their message and conduct themselves.
how about u is waas?

AUN.

I didnt know him personally, but my mother did.

I was informed that it was his last wish to finish paying off the masjid that he has built...and I will do what I can to make that happen.

May allah bless his soul.

Cinque, Amiin and JazaakAllahu Khayran bro. His passing is near and dear to my heart Wallahi, partly because of the Cilm he possessed and partly because of the man he was. His amazing life he led was paralleled only by the amazing death he died. I could write a book on my personal experiences with Sheikh Muhammad Rashaad, but I just wanted to scratch the surface with a thread that would give forumers a glimpse into the life of this great man. There are a lot of videos of the late Sheikh in circulation on youtube, although I'm not sure if the one Voltage was referring to is one of them.

Ashwaq, Amiin.

Voltage, Amiin. Indeed he was a multifaceted Sheikh. His lectures were passionate, informative, witty and engaging...it's difficult to strike a balance amongst those different approaches, but the Sheikh did so effectively. Not only that, but qof daacad ah buu ahaa and you could feel his sincerity when he spoke. I remember one night during Tarawiix, he picked up the microphone during the intermission and just gazed at the congregation, and said "Wallahi I love you all. Each and every one of you, I love you for the sake of Allah" in an affectionate tone while gently shaking his head with a smile from ear to ear. It was impromptu acts like those which really endeared him to those who knew him, as well as those who heard him lecture. Ilaahah Ha U Naxariisto.

Skippa, Amiin.

Nobleman, Amiin. You're right bro, he was fluent in English, Somali and Arabic (that's the only 3 languages I know of for sure). That's the main reason why his lectures resonated with the youth...he was able to deliver it in a language they understood and also able to truly understand their situation, as he lived in Ottawa for almost 20 years and raised his own kids here so he had firsthand experience in the challenges of growing up here.

Ka Darag, your age almost excuses your ignorance. Almost. Is there any subject matter you consider too sacred to pollute with your nonsensical comments? Seriously Wallahi, was that called for? No offense but, if you find it superfluous to pay respects to one of the great Sheikhs of our time, then please move along and comment on one of the dozens of irrelevant threads littering the forum (most of which were created by you).

Mad May, Amiin. I'm not sure how 2 threads for the passing of a Sheikh is excessive, especially given the fact that far more threads are dedicated to far less momentous things...but ok.

Ms Nalia, Amiin. You're right, that was his dying wish. One of the Sheikhs who helped run the late Sheikh's masjid told the congregation during Salaatul Eid, the day after his death, that Sheikh Muhammad Rashaad called him and said "if I don't happen to make it back from this trip, complete the Masjid. Complete the Masjid. Complete the Masjid." three times. Also, another Sheikh who taught classes at the Masjid said he received a call from Sheikh Muhammad Rashaad three hours before he left for Makkah, thanking him for the classes he's been giving at the Masjid. That Sheikh replied "inshaAllah, when you come back, we'll do many more together"...to which the Sheikh replied in an emotional voice "Masjid As-Salaam is a trust on your shoulders!". Sheikh Muhammad Rashaad was really worried about the Masjid and it's completion, inshaAllah those of us who have the means should contribute to it. On a side note, the Masjid was actually built over a nightclub, so the Sheikh simultaneously established a place of worship while extinguishing a place of fitnah. MaashaAllah.

Shirib, Amiin and Amiin.

Jazakallah Kheyr for this. Ilahay ha uu naxariisto, his daughter, niece, and him too. Ameen!

He came to our Masjid here to tell us about the Masjid he wished to built in Canada. I loved how he didn't even ask for donations, but yet at the end of the lecture every single person was reaching into their pockets to donate anything they could. He had a special effect on people.

Sadeboi, my bad abti...I missed your post when I was replying. Amiin and your right, I once heard something to the effect of "those who are loved by Allah are loved by the people".

Firefly, Wa Iyaakum and Amiin sis. May Allah SWT Reward those who donated towards a Masjid they will likely never visit.

Allah Yaa Raxma raxiim! May Allah SWT have mercy upon his soul, as well as the many others directly related to him and otherwise, who'd recently passed. Beautiful reflections, YNF, - Kheyr allahu ka siiyo! You know, the Somali Mall we were at during the moment of his passing had a mosque built into it where they gave an announcement as it happened, followed by calls to Salats. You could afterward hear the many Quran passages, and Dua's read for the sheik, and look around and not find any one person who wasnt moved or who wouldnt say to Allahu naxariisto, and what a great Sheik he was. For his time to end under such holy circumstances is only a testament of the love and mercy that Allah had upon a soul that loved him so. AUN.

Another out of topic but this is clearly when you realize why qabiil doesn't matter. The Sheikh is Cayr, Habar Gidir. I only use this in positive context so it can bring us together by showing us how small our clan differences are.
