My problem with these houses in Somalia (

) is you have magnificent buildings at the middle of nowhere with no good roads around. Ok, the idea is that everyone who needs to go there gets a 4 wheel car but we need roads and it is sad that those who are rich in these places where things are stable are not contributing to help the governments build roads. These rich guys should be paying some nice taxes called road tax or something and voila just ask the Canadian governement how to squeeze people and suck money from them.
And wait, these houses are nice beautiful but who can afford them whether it is Bossaso or Hargeisa? It is Somali expatriates who usually have these houses built or buy them with the goal of renting it or because they think it is a good investment in the future when things will kick back but in the meantime, these houses need to be maintained and they are often empty. Empty because they are way too expensive. I have a cousin who has a house that he wanted a nice rent for but couldn't get more than $1000. He usually rent it to people who are in honeymoon or staying for a few months in the summer. If their houses hold their value in the future and they realize later that they didn't have a better investment to make with their money, ok hat off but I doubt it. I wish they would use their money to create more economic activity and create jobs.
Sorry, this isn't against your topic but something I want to say in general.
