Your right, but life is too short for you to be like those people and sell yourself sister. Yes more money will make your life even more comfortable, but not necessarily happy. Your utimate goal should be to live your life as happily as you can, so that no guilty thoughts enter your head. On the other hand if no one suffers as a consequnce of your actions then by all means take the job, you can't bogged down on what happened in the past as not everything is black and white.

Siren Lol youre hilarious! Yuhuud in every corner, you remind me of a cousin of mine :-)

Narcissistic...I dont think homelessness os the issue...they issue is their loss of their way of life. What if poetry, hilib and camels were forcefully removed from Somalida? Where is their identity? Whats donated food when you have no identity? Im being far too philosophical caawa, hope it passes.

Xamd...thank you for your concern, but Im not that stupid, Ive been here (Snet and the world) too long to think like that naively. thanks for the link on the other thread, but I just started googling and checking ayahs in my quran instead, they only had khutbas and Ive no time for then. j.A.k :rose:

Sanboloshe, walaal its not me, thanks for the moral concern though lol Im just in a very philosophical mood. I agree with your point of view though, I choose happiness, contentment, and a clear conscience any day over money. Money is very corrupting, but tempts so many, I just wanted to see how many would jump at the chance regardless of the consequences it would have on others.

this is not being philosophical, it is about having a heart to be concerned about others. most people don't even know what is going on nevermind about how what they do is going to affect others.

I have no morals, principle or ethics besides making that money, I would take it in a heart beat trust me and this is coming from a guy who regularly pokes condoms with needles at the stores and put them back at the shelve, so seeing natives lose their land would be a personal entertainment for me alone.

^ Decency/principles/ethics. In simple words limit.. some people have limitations and some don't
gedo_gurl wrote:Youre dream job, dream salary, and dream location...but you had serious moral issues with the people you were working for, would you still take the job?

E.g Youve got a degree in travel and tourism and a lodge chain offer you a 50k starting salary + benefits etc, in your favourite location with sea views or whatever youre into...but the catch is that thanks to a corrupt government theyve bought land that traditionally belonged to a group of hunter gatherers/fisherman etc. and have ruined their way of life.

What if they offered them in return schools and housing elsewhere...would you refuse still?
Do what's right by you. Do what makes you happy. Don't compare yourself with others especially when it comes to decision makings.

Xamd....there is nothing more philosophical than the issues of morality and ethics. they seem like day to day things, basic even, but not everyone reasons with their moral side as often as they should.

Lol at Narc and San...like it or lump, waa daqankeena, and without that aggression we couldve been the gypsy tribe of Ethiopia.

Advo..condoms with needles? Where the eff do you get this stuff?? that said, there are women who do that to rich men to claim paternity...another moral hotbed (pun not intended)

Hyper...you are indeed very moral, but you still go to dugsi, when you come to the real world Ill ask you again *kidding*

Foxxy, that isnt me...I doubt Id take it, couldnt live with the guilt, guilt cripples me.

It seems in this world, success doesn't come without exploitation or crossing 'moral' boundaries. Whether you work for a clothes shop that exploits poor children, an international law firm that represent vulture funds or even if you are a university student whose fees are used to buy shares in arms companies.

We all benefit from luxuries that we have because someone far away was exploited, but how many of us feel guilty? I think its an issue of "out of sight and out of mind", would you feel the same about taking on the position 10yrs on, knowing the history of the travel lodge?

Let's get real Gedo_Girl, how long are you going to wait to see the social evolution of that traditionalism? Thousands years? In the mean water is becoming such a scarcity it will replace oil as the prime commodity inducing wars. Listen walaal, the more you prepare people and equip them with modern skills the more you are serving them and helping them out. Keep that for morality! Like Mad May said, China was prepared by Chairman Mao but without the extreme restructuring of their economic policies in the 80's which changed their thousand year old systems to capitalism, they would not be what they are today. Similarly the Europeans got to where they are by declaring war on traditionalism, the Church, and even antiquity. Just a few years after these people were dying of being so dirty and hungry, they were sailing around the world in the next generation.

You are getting paid to prepare these people for survival. What hang ups do you have?

Mad May wrote:Most of Mao's domestic policies were an absolute disaster, the Cultural Revolution hindered modernization dramatically. The only way it can be linked to China's recent boom is how the chaos it wrought damaged the Communist Party enough so that Deng was able to restructure China's political and economic system without resistance :|

One thing is for sure post Mao leadership have been able to redirect China’s massive energies toward building a more modern and more productive society (kwan Ha Yim 1980).

Moa was the father of modern China; he set foundations for a country where as Deng is the man who took China to the next stage of development by opening Chinese market to the world. China is now emerging as a major world superpower. He relied on the revolutionary enthusiasm and egalitarian policies. Mao was an original who laid the foundations for china today, all that couldnt happen without him.

As for the topic the words corrupt government tells me is not going to have good out come so no.

Did they buy the land legally and with the will of those people walaal?
