London is big in area, twice the physical size of New York City but 1 million less population.

Paidmonk i just googled 'biggest city in the world' and the first link shows this(I would of thought mumbai was bigger - bear in mind this was conducted in 2004):
1. Shanghai, China 13.3 million
2. Mumbai (Bombay), India 12.6 million
3. Buenos Aires, Argentina 11.92 million

Also I didn't realise that population-wise LA was small in comparison to big cities. It is only 4million - without metro area.

Cities tend to balloon when included with metro areas. Minneapolis proper is 400,000 but 3.2 million with metro area.

That is huge. Shanghai, Sau Palo and several other cities are huge and have massive numbers of buildings but they are still very ugly. Hong Kong has the craziest skyline so far from what I have seen. But huge megacities are not very appealing to me. I take smaller (more like mid size) condensed cities that are very self sufficient over them any day. San Francisco, Boston etc are my kinda cities.
