This what I honestly think if siyaad barre just resigned after the war Somalia got defeated by The Ethiopians and there Russian allies and Cubans etc. 1978 this was just before the rebbelgroup where starting their rebbelgroups. If there was some sort of change or election around that time Somalia could have been saved. New leadership fresh leadership new policy it could of stopped the rebbelgroups. Gaining support from the locals. Definitely he should of at least had elections and if he was re-elected then there wouldn't be a problem however the people most probably needed a change of face.

There is nothing called Irirism,
It might have been initiated by the Isaq in an effort to involve the Dir and Hawiye in a way to ease the Siyad Govt high handedness in Northern Somalia.
As for the MJ case it was different as they were hellbent on taking power at all costs whether Siyad Bare was a Just president or not. So to some degree he was justified at quelling the Northwest rebellion.

I blame Siyad Bare for destrying the Institutions, I mean Siyad Bare filled most of the topp positions with Illiterate Marexan. This is not called nation building but it is what accelerated Somalias destruction.
