Dhaga,

Farah is a native Somali name with no Arabic influence.

Its time Somalis strive to name their children with Somali names not Arab ones.

AbdiWahab,

Waa runbtaa Farax is pure Somali name. Laakiin qaarbaa Arabic u haysta....

I think Farax and Pharaoh are the same thing. You know how Somalis love power and everything associates with it.

Walaalo, even though I lived the majority of my life outside Somalia but 95% of the Somalis i have met have arabic names. And I don't really care if you agree with me or not, believe what you want to believe in  But just for your fyi, Farah فرح means happiness and name for females is quite common and some people use it as a meaning of the word wedding.
Somalis use it as فارح denoting it as a male name, in additions some of the North africans and Pakis use it. Also in some villages of Egypt, they use فرحانه for females. Whether the name is Faraah, Farah, Farhana...it came from the word root of Farah aka فرح ie happiness .

Anyway,

Dhaga Bacayl sayax ka boode halkuu u nooday bal yaa garanaaya. i understand the underlined but what does the first three words mean

The only Hamdi I know was a somali boy, but shulri is used by somali girls. I think it's because it sounds feminine.
Lol@ Farax is pharoah. Farax is a arab name which came from the the arabic root fa-ra-xa meaning happy/happiness. I think Fir-coon is somali for Pharoah.

Lol@ Farax is pharoah. Farax is a arab name which came from the the arabic root fa-ra-xa meaning happy/happiness. I think Fir-coon is somali for Pharoah.

Pharoah may very well be Fircoon. why, Fircoon is an ancient word in Somali, not everyday use.. and on top of that we seem to run away from this word

Fircoon translate into Old Dynasty if you seperate the name into the two words Fir and Coon, but Fircoonimo also means wittiness or smartness, people usually say this when they see Majic.. but they may very well be refering to the Old Dynasty that was known for its Majic, you see Somalis use the phrase "nimo" in various cases such as Raga(nimo), and it means " the quality of".

so in effect when we see Magic and that sort, we say "waxan waa fircoonimo" meaning " this is the quality of the old dynasty"

there are dozen of words in one language that means something else in another, but the fact that the Somali words Fircoon translates into something that points towards Pharoah is a rare situation.

also the Quraan mentions Fircoon, spelled and pronounced in the exact same way of the ancient Somali word Fircoon.

i will leave it for you guys to draw your conclusion.
