Re: Siad Barre Talking about Pending Soviets Attack Interview
Navy9,
Abdullahi Isse was the first Executive leader of South Somalia when he became Prime Minister of the Caretaker government during the transition to independence. He formed the first government for the Ex-Italian Somaliland. He also oversaw the creation of the Somali security forces and lobbied for Somali independence in the 1950s and made an eloquent speech at the United Nations making the case for Somali unity.
During the civilian government, he held high posts like being foreign minister. He was denied the Presidency by a shifty parliament which raised the minimum age to run for Presidency, thereby disqualifying him because he was too young. After the 1969 coup, he was arrested by the regime and jailed for some time before being released and being made Ambassador to the Sweden. During his tenure, he worked hard to boost relations with the Nordic countries.

It was a mistake for Somalia to leave The Non-Aligned Movement and become a client state for the Soviet Union. Ultimately, this futile relationship is one of the main denominators of the collapse of the Somali State.

He spoke perfect Italian:Navy9 wrote:Yeah, his english is pretty good, didnt he work in Kenya when he was young? And I bit he knew good Italian too.IRONm@N wrote:Man, good Siad Barre Interview, speaking plain English, saying "Somalia was a friend of the Soviet not a dependent on them" "if Soviet takes over Somalia, it will be third world war", playing the West & the Soviet against each other.s
Here he is telling the lady, even if they beg me to go back to Mogadishu and rule them I will not. I am tired of ruling Somalis like a guard over a prison. He says look at them, if they have removed me why are they destroying the banks, the monuments, the city's infrastructure. What will they gain from that? I am not there nor are my supporters? Why are they still fighting? He says I will never go back to rule those people. He was in Buurdhuubo, Gedo at this time.

Re: Siad Barre Talking about Pending Soviets Attack Interview
Waxaan la yaabay how these fockers think Siyad was another somali leader
trying to compare him to Abdulahi Isse ama Aden Adde. Siyad Bare ruled wadanka for 21 years. 21 YEARS oo waxqabad ku keena.
the only 1 U can compare him to's Ahmed Gurey oo 20 sano ka talinyey Adal
so marki la so hadal qaado Somaliya hore then its Siyad Bare history. How can U talk about 1970 1980 iyo 1990 without so hadal qaadin Siyad Bare?
ninka taariikh somali ayuu ka tagay, wadankasta taariikhda madaxweynahooda ayee xasuustan?

Thanks for the info abdi, and it is quite interesting how people do the same things all the time yet we believe we are far from being alike. Do you know when Omar ibn Al Khatab (r.w) was killed and the muslims were trying to choose the next Khalifa, both Othman ibn Affan and Ali ibn abi Talib were head to head and Othman was chosen only because he was older than Ali. I wonder if Ali was the 3rd khalifa, would there be Shia today?AbdiWahab252 wrote:Navy9,
