Re: Who runs Islamqa.com?
This pissed me off:
The problem with these websites is that they'll insert broad-sweeping opinions alongside legitimate hadiths that relate to the topic at hand, but don't support their ridiculous arguments, in order to legitimise these misogynistic arguments. In doing so they put people off the religion, disgusting.
This is purely the opinion of the author, why did the Prophet seek the advice of his wives if they were inherently weak in intellect due to their sex?The husband is physically stronger and is more wise than the wife.

^That's why you should discover Islam for yourself and read about great female scholars like the mother of Imam Ahmad.

I cant ignore people or infantilize my gender and dehumanize me. These petty issues make up the bigger pictureKoronto69 wrote:Islamqa.com was founded by a well-known Saudi scholar called Salih Al-Munajjid. He specializes in fiqh of marriage & social issues. But I think the site is also run by a few other people. Although I don't see anything wrong with the answer you posted, let me remind you that each Sheikh who answers a question or issues a fatwa is human & infallible. Everyone is shaped by their environment, most of these Arab Sheikhs come from male dominated societies and their answers reflect this. My suggestion to you is to stop paying detail to these petty issues & try to grasp the bigger picture. Point of the answer is; even if someone wrongs you, it doesn't entitle you to wrong them back, Islam is about forgiveness & patience, vengeance is never productive. That's the message I took from the Sheikh's response.

Addoow wrote: so,what are you suggesting? the wife shouldnt practice her deen because the muslim guy with her is not a practicing enough?? There many many hadith which deal with this matter and i am no expert in that field but that is what i heard from the imam in my local mosque.
i dont know where you mind goes when you read people's post, but thats not what i said. i said and i quote,
the problem here is not the Quran or Sunnah, is when men use it to their advantage, why would a woman listen to husband who doesnt practice the religion himself? does it sound fair or even logic? he only uses the religion when its to his advantage, thats all i'm against. but we wouldnt have this problem, if women learn the Quran and challenge these hypocrite men.this is exactly what i was talking about yesterday. a guy using rerligion when he sees fit, though he properly not good Muslim himself.

If the husband is not a practising muslim, then he is a hypocrite ilahey hana magan galiyo. It is like preaching people to pray when you dont do that your self.It is pure nifaaq.

Re: Who runs Islamqa.com?
MM,
Well, think of it this way, Islam isn't the work of a man, it comes from Allah & Allah is gender-blind. Because the Qur'an says that those closest to him are "Al-mutaqeen" i.e. the pious. It didn't say men or men, but both. Allah is beyond gender issues, learn the religion for yourself, that way you eliminate all these male biases & opinions. And remember everything has a reason & a purpose. When a woman is told not to travel without a mahram, its for her own safety. What brother/father/son/husband wants to stop everything he's doing & travel with his female relative? Do you know what travelling meant 1400 years ago?

Re: Who runs Islamqa.com?
^ I understand why we need muhrums for long journeys, I just disapprove of these fatwas which are deliberately offensive to women. I understand the need for modern female scholars to combat this

Re: Who runs Islamqa.com?
I never understood the concept of disciplining women through "light" beating (whatever that means). Women are not children who are afraid of a slap on the back of their hand, no husband is going to tell his wife "i a going to lightly beat you tonight" as a form of discipline, it sounds erotic actually. I am not surprised that some sheikhs think women do not possess a full functioning mind thus they compare us to children and the disabled.
But why do Muslims ask so many silly questions, especially the women. I stopped watching Islam channel because of women wanting answers on how to dress their 3 year old baby boy, whether they should accompany their husband for grocery shopping etc. It reminds me of the Al Azhar sheikh who was asked by a woman if she can work with unrelated men, he advised her to breastfeed her colleagues which would make them relatives. He got the sack.
