You believe your imams are infallibles?Qubbato wrote:Imamah
Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini is the reviver of Shi'a Islam and the most highly regarded modern day scholar of their faith:Shia Hadith: “The Imams possess all the knowledge granted to the angels, prophets, and messengers.” (Al-Kulaini, Al-Kafi, p.255) Another narration in Al-Kafi says: “Signs of the prophets are possessed by the Imams.” (Al-Kafi, p.231)
This book caused many of the Ulama of Ahlul Sunnah wal Jama'a to declare Khomeini a kafir. If you just look at his name, it will confirm these beliefs."Verily, the imam has a praised station, a supreme rank and universal sovereignty to which authority and command submit all the atoms of this universe. And of the essential tenets of our religion is that our imams occupy a praised station which is accessible by neither a close angel nor a sent prophet"
"And in accordance with the narrations and traditions that are in our possession, the greatest Messenger and the imams, peace be on them, were light before the existence of this world, then Allah made them surround His Throne. It has been related to them that they have states with Allah which are encompassed by neither a close angel nor a sent prophet"
(Hukumat-e-Islami by Ayatollah Khomeini, p.52-53)
To read more about him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Baqir_Majlisi“Their preference [is] over the prophets and all the people.” (Bihar Al-Anwar, Vol 26, Chapter 6) He further stated: “…our Imams are higher [and] better than the rest of the prophets…they are more knowledgeable than the prophets…this is the main opinion of the Imami (Shia), and is only rejected by one who is ignorant about the traditions.” (Bihar Al-Anwar, Volume 26, p.297)
On the whole, after admission of the fact that the Imams are not prophets, we are bound to acknowledge the fact that they are superior to all Prophets and Awsiya (legatees) except our Prophet (salutations and peace upon him and his family). To our knowledge there is no reason not to describe the Imams as Prophets except consideration to the status of the Final Prophet. Our intellect too, cannot perceive a distinction between Nabuwwah (prophethood) and Imamah. (Bihar Al-Anwar, Volume 26, p.82)
Under the guidance of Muhammad Baqir Majlisi (1616–1698) (one of the most important Shiite clerics of all time), who devoted himself to (among other things) the eradication of Sunnism in Iran,[58] the Safavid state made major efforts, in the 17th century to Persianize Shiite practice and culture in order to facilitate its spread in Iran among its Sunni populace.[59] It was only under Majlisi that Shi'a Islam truly took hold among the masses.
Also one of the problems when discussing issues with Shi'a is that a tenet of the faith called Taqiya, allows them to hide their beliefs from you in order to bring you nearer to them. If you do not believe in the Imamate and that the Imams are incapable of making mistakes etc. then to them you are a kafir deviant. It says so explicitly in their books, however if they tell you that to your face it will turn you away. Therefore they hide their beliefs to bring you nearer to them. They talk about the status of Ali as the rightful successor, the oppressive rule of the Umayyads, the killing of Hussein ra. Which is all a smokescreen, concealing the reality. So I encourage you guys to read more about this matter, and not make your mind up because of a conversation you had at Starbucks.‘We believe that Imaamat is one of the fundamentals of Islam and that man’s faith can never be complete without belief in it. It is wrong to imitate our fathers, family or teachers in this matter, even if we respect both, for it is just as necessary rationally to consider Imaamat as it is to consider Tawheed and Nubuwwat.’
‘We believe that, just as it is necessary for Allah to send someone as a prophet, so it is also necessary for Him to appoint an Imaam.’
‘The Imaamat is therefore a continuation of a prophethood, and the reasoning which proves the former’s necessity is the same that which prove the latter’s. ‘We believe that, like the Prophet, an Imaam must be infallible, that is to say incapable of making errors or doing wrong, either inwardly or outwardly …’
‘Their (i.e. the Shi’i Imaams) position in regard to Islam is the same as the prophet’s, and the reasoning which necessitates their infallibility is the same as that which necessitates the Prophet’s infallibility, and there is no difference between them in matters.’
shia are muslims just like sunnis, the difference is not about aqeedah ,their aqeedah are the same basically. The guy has Quote some anti-shia book which is biased.I know some sunnis who are called Qudratuallah(allahs power) or some other names which doesnt make them deviant.Cirwaaq wrote:What is Shia have a valid point and Sunis have made a mistake?
Qubbato wrote:Exactly suni have different groups Shia have that to. Yes Dissing the sahaba is a no go zone, We shia believe Prophet Muhammad appointed ali as his Successor you are free to discuss that but according to us we know Ali was the rightful Successor Of prophet Muhammad ,as the two were related and Ali was the first Muslim After Muhammad.saw
