Copy? lol Dirac are arabian, and Macawis are from somewhere in Asia.
In harar oromo culture we wear white Marxoos(macawis) with the billawaa (blade thing) and Fillaa in are afros. That aint copying, it's just similarities.
If you see Karrayuu oromos they're similar to Afars.
Aadaa Oromoo!

Re: WTF is wrong with this?
just wondered where are/were these macawis, guntimo, diracs etc made? i mean do somali nomads or the oromos do/did they have textile factories? where did they get the raw materials and what machines (if any)did they use to convert those raw materials into multi colored garents of different variations?
if these clothes are traditional somali/oromo clothes, them i assume that they must have had some sort of advanced textile industry in the olden days.
please enlighten me i'm very much interested somali/oromo traditional craft and technology.

Re: WTF is wrong with this?
that is a good question. Today most Dircac, Guntino are made in Thailand and India. But in old day Somalia use to make their clothing by hand. My grandmother and her mother before use to hand make Guntinoyin called Al-hindi or Banadiri and Haar iyo hoos in Marka Somalia. even today such practice still exist. 4 years ago when UIC was in power i went back to marka and they still make this clothes by hand.LoDoon wrote:just wondered where are/were these macawis, guntimo, diracs etc made? i mean do somali nomads or the oromos do/did they have textile factories? where did they get the raw materials and what machines (if any)did they use to convert those raw materials into multi colored garents of different variations?
