I really think it goes down to a deeper level. I think it has less to do with Europe and North America and more to do with reer Waqoyi (original UK settlers) and reer Xamar (majority US settlers). I think the first batch of UK settlers set the early trend for the rest of Somalis in that area. And there is a vast distinction between Waqoyi (xenophobic, closed society) culture compared to Xamari (open, multi-cultural, multi-racial, multi-lingual) culture. See me and most reer Xamar from the smallest towns like Buaale to places like Beletweyn and Kismayo, we had neighbors who were every race and nationality, so for us to once again adopt another culture was no problem, cadaan people were a common sight for us. For that same reason, there is no concrete Xamari culture (excluding reer Galguduud & Mudug of course) so there is no attachment to the homeland for diaspora where the reer Waqoyi have close ties to home and their culture, and this set a trend for the whole UK. I think that explains the cultural ties and strength of the UKers better than north americans who are mostly reer Xamar.

Once again the triumphant paidmonk answers the anomaly. :rose:
You're probably right, the only other community who are closer than the original Isaaq families of the UK are bengali families: with those guys the whole family live together, including grans, aunts, uncles etc.

Honestly was there for like three days. Europe is too boring to visit for a long time. I always try to see the European countries I want to see the three days before or after my vacations to the third world. Once you see one part of White, Western you have seen all. No soul and for me that's what travel is all about. :?

If you really was in London for even a few hours, a question as simple as asking you which ice cream you prefer, chocolate or vanilla...you wouldve been able to answer in a jiffy.

Im off mate...cheerio.
