I recently heard my mom saying shaash saar isn't allowed anymore 'cause it comes from pagan culture.

Anyone ever hear about Geedi Shaamboow? Apparently the shaash saar tradition came from that era.

People people people nikaax is your wedding, the reception is the party afterwards you can see it in this video for the last few minutes. I don't know why Somalis divide it up as if the nikaax is the traditional bit and the party is the actual wedding Marriage islamically is when the nikaax is done, legally it is when you sign the papers, wearing a white dress and eating cake is just wearing a white dress and eating cake. Do that infront of the sheikh or before you sign the papers but the party has no significance in a legal context.

Mehr is what you ask of your groom and its agreed before and mentioned during the nikaax (ps I dont see why a room of odayaal need to know this information)
