sadeboi ibn Kuumbo,

So what if the painters were Gaalo, you act as though there were somali painters 2 years ago in Somalia. These images are fantastic you just hate them because it has few Kuumbos wearing earings , when Warsame101 posted few paitings of your Maro Xaar couple years ago you were so happy that in fact few times i caught you gigiling.

First of all Xkeyse, hardly any of these paintings are from your "clan". This is like Gaaljecel claiming Marehan imagery in the name of having shared Jubbaland protectorate. Secondly, fadlan go research "orientalism" and the concept of otherizing (Read demonizing) the enemy (in this case the resistance of the Mullah) and making the British into civilized gentlement. Also notice the "friendlies" in the paintings (your actual clan) are depicted like Aunt Jamima was during American slavery period imagery.

Kuumbo child,

Maybe you just read the Arab Said and you think of yourself as anti-colonial intellectual but oreintalism is a coined term by the Arabs and how the west saw the east in its harem laden "ghulam" love (pedstary) but it has nothing todo with our experince with the colonials, somalis are Africans and blacks, not Arab and easterners and non of the Arab vices be it homsexuality or harem culture was known among the somals.

Yes 80% of these images are about Isaaq-land and half of these pictures were painted long before the Dervish some of them as early as 1848 long before yout Mullah was born. The little kids diving for coins in the harbour of Eden was painted around 1854. The 2 wariors on drinking from the pool the other mounted was published in 1848.

Before your bring your pesudo-theroies and boast of them, do your home work before I do your head with my steel toes.

A nice insight of how life was like in those times

Also to those guys vomiting all over this thread, I seem to remember those 'paintings', posted by warsame, were used as avatars by most of you. :|
