Teeda kale, this is a wonderful news for the somali community. Save the money for something worthwhile instead of wasting on nacnac and khayaali!
I would bet my bottom dollar that someone snitched, I've seen it happen before.
You should have said "I know how Somalis love to snitch."

10% of DEA/FBI or local police officers successfully track khat shipments, the other 90% of khat busts come from anonymous tips AKA snitches

Samater,
Have you considered that maybe someone or a group is trying to protect their market share? All business engage in activties to protect their profit margins. None one accuses them about being a snitches, unless some-one is caught red handed selling trade secrets.

Someone snitched. I guess grazing outside diplomatic compounds is hazardous.
I support the legalization of Qad. The status quo drives it underground resulting in:
1. Criminalization - Often causal chewers are arrested for over an all natural vegetable whose shelf life is merely a few days and effect is not much worse than drinking a Starbucks cappuccino.
2. Higher prices - The price of qad is 10 times higher than that in the UK resulting in more money being drawn away from the disposable income of Somali families.
3. Limited Appeal - The risk of it becoming a widespread in the larger society is minimal. It is restricted to Arab, Ethiopian, Kenyan and Somali communities.
4. Cultural bias - What makes qad more dangerous than drinking booze ? The criminalization of qad is nothing more than cultural bias against a minority group by a larger dominant cultural group.
AbdiWahab,
The concept of moderation is missing from our psyche, hence the abuse whether it is khat, alcohol, and soon to be added to the list is shisha. Khat is not like coffee, it is worse, let us at least be honest about it.
In any case, I find it hard that someone snitched on these 2 guys. If some-one spied on them, then maryooley need to keep their business private and not trust any-one period.

Niya,
There is only certain level of anonymity if you go commercial. It reminds me of the Yemeni farmer who was caught growing bushes of the blessed plant in S. California. He got sold out.
As for moderation, if an addict is an addict, he will get his fix. Better at $10/marduuf than at $70
