Somalis have to make use of their strategic location...
Right across the sea there are your cousins/friends ie the Arabs, with billions to invest
Neighbouring you ,there are 70 to 80 million Oromo-Amhara highly disciplined, low abiding and hard working peasants.
much cheaper labor than the Asians

So let Somalis do wat they can best do : being the middle men :!:
U will be rich, arabs will be richer and richer and we will have something to eat
Obliging Somalis to work is very bad idea, the guys will quote everything to fight u off.

I stopped caring about somalia after I found out these people have only one ambition; to destroy themselves. They don't have the discipline, patience, forward-thinking and hard-work to build their economy from the bottom up like the east asians. They don't have the common sense to stop fighting and look around at the rest of africa, countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda and Angola and see that even africans are flying further ahead of them into the modern era. I predict that somalia will continue lawless for another fifty years until the UN decide to nuclear bomb that sh*thole, miserable excuse for a country out of mercy and pity.

Bareento,

Wise words, my dear cousin. The land is huge, the people plenty but the brainpower is lacking.

I don't know why I praise them anymore. I just think to myself, these NGOs are building shit all over Africa yet the success doesn't produce shit. On the other hand a few Chinese factories are building economies and bringing countries out of the darkness.

A Somali kid gets an electrician certification; what will he do with it in a country without capital? A girl gets a BS in Medicine, but who can afford to be consulted by her? Another guy gets an accounting degree but whose money will he manage in a country without an economy or any capital? It looks cute for young kids to learn and you can point out 100 ways in which an education beyond the basics will be useful but really what kind of lifestyle can a guy in [especially baadiyo] Somalia make with his applied certification and knowledge without any sort of compensation?

Ponder that.

I will reference once again my favorite African economist; You can't have a fruitful education nor a political framework without the economy to support it. Africans and Somalis in particular must first and foremost build sustainable economies before anything else. We are simply wasting time and money with all of these schools. How long can White people help us maintain this dead end livelihood?

Discuss. :|

I think you're being small minded here. What you're advocating is for people to stop educating themselves...to stop aspiring for a better life and more education in their chosen field because of the local situation? How is that going to benefit Somalia in the long run? There are many uneducated Somalis to fill the unskilled work that is available or will be available in the future so there is no point in discouraging people from pursuing more. The factories you're talking about and the chinese economy (I'm assuming) you want to assimilate were built and planned by educated people. The more educated people you have, the better chance you have of getting your country moving. If their degrees are not useful to them in Somalia at present, they have the option of seeking further education or work elsewhere. Education is not a waste of money.

We have to first create peace for outsiders to invest and to also train us to profit them while keeping some in our pockets.
Stop the press...

We over look a commodity we can continue to export... :D People, exporting educated people is beneficial for the somali economy for the short term. Remittance is the primary form of large cash flow. This also serves to keep the people alife and out of the war zone.

I dont see peace anytime soon.

Qabiil war  Ideology war  Gender war  war between somalis born in somalia Vs those born overseas...

If you can't bring peace to the people then by all means take the people to a place of peace!!!
