^You are about right, just read the E1b1b wiki page to understand all the different clades

This topic is concerning the toothless Somali liars who claim only 4 dudes populated about 90% of Somalia (with a time frame of ~1,000 years). I can't believe this nasty myth is so widespread and completely accepted in Somali society.

I think we have about 200 different clans who are 1,000 years old.

We can’t have more than 200. That's just insane.

Surely no one truly believes the countless number of traditional stories of creation every tribe around the world carries. Even without the science I think everyone knows deep down that the Somali one was made up, especially after hearing that the guy was on a tree :?

Horta where did Samale (sp?) come from then?

There is one possible genetic ''Samaale'', E1b1b1a1b DYS-438 value 11 a downstream clade of V32 dating to around 3,000 years ago from central Ethiopia. A genetic founder effect in Somalis.

Around 52% of Somali males have this. Others carry brother clades of this Somali marker (25%) or completely foreign haplogroups (23%)

Haplogroup A (M91) (Africa, especially the Khoisan, Ethiopians, and Nilotes)
Haplogroup B (M60) (Africa, especially the Pygmies and Hadzabe)

The shortest people of africa...

Haplogroup E1b1a (M2) (Africa); formerly known as E3a
Haplogroup E1b1b (M35) East Africa, North Africa, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, the Balkans; formerly known as E3b

Some of the tallest people on earth

Haplogroup J (M304) (the Middle East, Turkey, Caucasus, Italy, Greece, the Balkans, North and Northeast Africa)
Haplogroup J* (Mainly found in Socotra, with a few observations in Pakistan, Oman, Greece, Czechia, and among Turkic peoples)
Haplogroup J1 (M267) (Mostly associated with Semitic peoples in the Middle East, and North Africa, and with Northeast Caucasian peoples in Dagestan; J1 with DYS388=13 is associated with eastern Anatolia)
Haplogroup J2 (M172) (Mainly found in West Asia, Central Asia, South Asia, Southern Europe, and North Africa)

The people in socotra look like zanzibarian

I have to agre with Dawwa somalis will have a lot more then just 4 H-groups.

Cirwaaq,

There's a difference between haplogroups and haplotypes.

Haplogroups (ancient clans +30,000 years) = 6 documented in Somalis
Haplotypes (recent clans ~1,000 years) = 66 documented so far

Aksumites crossed over from yemen creating a barrier between an otherwise continous stretch of land from alexandria to Rwanda and the horn of africa predominantly settled by the so called kushitic people. They may have settled as far as the nile river stretches into southern africa.

The San or pygmies may have existed along side the kushitics as depicted in egyptian art.
By the reign of Sahure in the early 5th Dynasty, the Egyptians began trading with the Land of Punt , which was accessible only by sailing along the seacoast on the Red Sea. Expeditions to Punt began by sailing upriver to Coptos, then caravaning eastward through the Wadi Hammamat or the Wadi Gasus to the seacoast. There, the expeditions built ships and embarked on the sea voyage south. While the Egyptians did not penetrate Punt eastward from the Nile in Upper Nubia, apparently some Puntite goods and pygmies were trans-shipped to Egypt via a circuitous overland route through Nubia
The people of Punt used to sell pygmies to the fircoons. :D

Little wonder then 5000 years later the Habasha pygmies who have outnumbered the taller kushitics only to get their revenge...

Tables have turned...
