Christians in Kenya are leading a campaign to abolish Qaadi judges which have existed in Kenya for many centuries. They are calling it "discrimination" because a person has to be Muslim to be a Qaadi, and it contradicts their religion which calls for separation of church and state, even in civil disputes between Muslims.

Despite efforts by reasonable people to communicate to the Christians that these courts have been present in Kenya for hundreds of years, long before the period of British colonial rule and long before the arrival of Christianity, the christians are largely ignorant and not informed about anything other than what their priests tell them. So they have continued to incite the public to take action against any recognition of these courts.

Kenyan Christians are also quite militant. For example, when Muslims demonstrated against the arrest and illegal detention of a Sheikh (from Jamaica) recently, the Priests called on their followers to get weapons and help put down the demonstrations, which only escalated the situation.
