Objectively speaking what you define as 'greener to you on the other side' can be fully substantiated.pudding wrote:marcassmith wrote:I suppose Sheikh Sharif has full control of the former Somalia?grandpakhalif wrote:I don't know what your smoking but last time I checked Berbera was part of North western somalia
Wishful thinking!may look greener to you on the other side, but then again you still have to mow it….True or false?

For surely, Somaliland is a shining star of hope in the Somali peninsula and an example of a good locally driven, grass rooted democratic system for all Africa. We have started from scratch and built on the goodwill of the local communities, the traditional clan leaders and the political parties. We have perfected the art of negotiations and settling of differences. This is particularly important because while there may be political differences between the parties and the leaders, yet there is stable political, social order and fairly well established liberties for all the residents of Somaliland including those who may and may not agree with the State and or the government.

Re: Arabs Helped Build Somalia
For many years, Mogadishu stood as the pre-eminent city in the بلد البربر Bilad al Barbar ("Land of the Berbers"), which was the medieval Arabic term for the Horn of Africa.] Following his visit to the city, the twelfth century Syrian historian Yaqut al-Hamawi wrote that it was inhabited by dark-skinned Berbers, the ancestors of the modern SomalisAbdihaliim wrote:Ibn Battuta's Account of MogadishuMurax wrote:Lets be real, Somalia's biggest cities were founded by Arabs inparticular Omanis, Marka, Mogadishu, Baraawe, Kismaayo, etc. To be honest Somalis for the most part were Reer Baadiye around that time.

Re: Arabs Helped Build Somalia
Arabs didn't build shit for somalia. I don't understand why somalis always go to the extreme with everything. There are those who say they are arabs and are obsessed with everything arab, then there are those who say we are "africans" and are obsessed with anything african, telling us news of places like Kenya Uganda, South Africa like we care. What happened to just being reer "hebel" and being somali muslim? Go back 200 years or even 100 years, and ask a somali whether he is arab or if he is an african. I guarantee you, he would impale you with his spear for the former question and he would be confused by the latter.
