Is every Somali an expert on any thing?

Do you folks notice nearly every Somali would try to answer any topic that is being discussed even if that individual has no idea, I mean not an expert, on what is being discussed? Believe me folks I noticed it.

Could that be some of the underlying problems that are preventing the Somalis from ever reaching a peaceful and just settlement to the endless saga in Somalia?

That is the culture udun. There is a famous line somalis from central Somalia are known for when you tell them something: "Ma adigaa yiri", it is the first salvo and an argument from them that must end in their favour whether they have it right or wrong(which mostly they are --> very wrong). Up north where somalis there call themselves Somalilanders, the saying goes "Dee waan daadshay". It is rare to meet a somali, young and old in Somalia specially who isn't an expert on everything.

PS: This is not specific to certain regions in Somalia but overall Somali belief that you know every topic and can answer any thing. Still at "Ma adigaa yiri" and "Dee waan daadshay".

Only small portion of it. Goljano also mentioned another piece and Ciyaal Warta was very much close to what I saw even tough I don't agree that it is only Reer Mudug who act it in those ways but generally all Somalis.

Niya, No, I am not OPINIONATED on every thing, certain areas yes buy not on every thing. There are things that I am passioned about such as my love for Islam and the Somali Republic and not actually opinionated very much on any thing else.

egyptians are da kings of dis trend..plus they do mujamala...the only thing missing in reer mudug is mujamala if they start that they leveled the egyptians.

Many folks contributed good valid points. However, I think the main problem is Somali culture is immature culture when it comes to debates, discussions and many other social and political issues. The culture is still young and so are the society.

Remember when you were a kid: you only knew 'that is good' or 'that is bad'--In other words, black and white only--no grey areas, no buts and ifs.

As we grew old, we realize the answers of many questions are not only "YES" or "NO", but There are many "yes but" or "Yes if" etc.

What I am trying to say here is we have strong opinion because we see everything black and white-- "Yes" or "No".
And yes, we think like children because we know less.

The more you are informed, the more grey area you see because you have to look the other side of the coin, too. We are simple society who are lack the paradox of life.

Each culture is as old as the memory of its oldest person. Its continuum – an evolving process. Somali culture is not immature as you claim! Individual human beliefs should be understood in terms of his or her own culture! All cultures are relative. No culture can be judged against another, since they derive their essence from different sources. Unless, of course, you feel there is a superior cultural benchmark with which we can objectively judge Somali culture against.

There are two sides of each culture. There is one side of culture which is the root of that society which is derived from their ancient ancestors. In other words, this is ancient rural culture was before people of that culture became urbanized and moved to metropolitan cities.

And there is one side of culture that evolved from that rural one to learned and educated culture. This side of the culture might be the branches of that old root culture.

Each culture has these two sides. However, culture didn't move that rural side of culture at the same time. Example 100 BC Romans have lived in big cities and have modern and democratic system. You can see Julie Caesar play if you want to know more.
My point is simple, compared to people who have Roman roots have older culture and Somali culture when it comes to debates, discussions , political and social issues. And that time Somali culture were savage who were butt naked and bare footed. Get it?

Then how a young Somali culture which new to city, higher education stand up against this Roman-rooted culture when it comes forming opinion and discussions. No chance!.

To move forward, we need to realize we are running behind. Neither denials nor alibis would help here, budy!
