Siciid check this out about Gabiley over 50 years ago:

"During the nineteen-twenties harvests got better, and markets stayed healthy and Gadabuursi enjoyed good revenues from their grain harvests which they sold in the Protectorate where tax was light and indirect. Indeed after the British re-established themselves in the Gadabuursi areas of the Protectorate there was an abrupt decline in trade between the Ethiopian centre of Somali trade in Jigjiga and the Protectorate. Customs receipts at one of the Protectorate customs posts at Gabileh fell from 27,000 Rupees in 1920 to 12,000 Rupees in 1922, with official imports of grain falling from 1,625 tons to 832 tons. The decline in revenues was partly due to increased cultivation in the Protectorate itself, but the figures hid the increasing instances of grain being smuggled from Ethiopia across the border to markets in the Protectorate avoiding Ethiopian taxes at Jigjiga.[18]
In spite of the Ethiopian efforts to collect taxes and establish effective administration on the Ethiopian side of the border, the British rather churlishly accused Gadla-Giyorgis of ‘maladministration’ and reporting that he had reduced Jigjiga, the once prosperous town ‘to a half-deserted weed-grown ruin’.[19] The British appeared blind to the effects that their timid indirect taxation was having in the Jigjiga region. Nevertheless the Ethiopian government continued to bolster its claim to the Gadabuursi through the recognition of individual ambitions to the ‘chieftaincy’ (known as the Ugaas) of the Gadabuursi

Gabiley must have had a considerable Gadabursi population back then because it mentions here during the British protectorate, most of our income was based on our cultivations in Gabiley and Allah knows best.

Lord Diplock's scientific study of Idoor sub-clans population numbers.

Largest to the smallest

1. HA (not just Sacad Muuse only)
2. HY
3. HJ
4. Arap
5. Cidagale
6.Ayoub

** If you had HY and Cidagale, then they will larger than HA but not by much.

End of this debate.

Lord Diplock, wrong sxb, H.A is not larger then H.Y , in the parliament seats , the whole habar awal had 16 seats, while H.Y had 17 seats in the somaliland parliamentary elections 2005 H.Y came out as the largest block, forget about adding Cidagalle, if we add Cidagalle H.Y are then very much bigger then H.A on a big margin.

  Gartay, sxb amba waan yaba when people divide Garhajis into two parts, because they know they can't match them numerically, but mashallah H.Y kaliya numerically is the same size or bigger then H.A, so you can't blame them for dividing Garhajis so that they might have a chance against them  .

I just thought brother Siciid prefers the HY card and not Garhajis

I said before, the closest Idoor sub-clan to be is: HJ (Maxamed Abokor) and I have nothing to do with HA

Lord Diplock, in lineage terms Garhajis & Habar awal are equilivent but when it comes to numbers they are not equilivent i hope you understand that is why i said H.Y alone is properly the same size or larger then H.A, as for Habar jeclo - it's three sons of sheikh Isaxaaq combined, muse sheikh Isaxaaq, sambuur sheikh Isaxaaq, cibraan sheikh Isxaaq, bar ama baro.

So next time please don't be ignorant Lord Diplock i know you can do better.

If you look into the numbers from the last parliamentary election, from the top of my head, I think the combined Garxajis voters was around 170k (40k Cidagale) and 160k HA respectively. HJ voter was around 140k. Arap around 50k

but how do they know this? do they ask the voters or just a wild guess like here in Somalinet

Lord Diplock, there you go making up lies  Hj votes were 100,000 same as Sacad Muse in 2005 parliament elections, even though those voting was not really based on full numbers, still though the clan who came out as the biggest block was H.Y with 17 Mp seats, so don't speak about something you have no knowledge about sxb.

If you are interested in the last population estimation of british somaliland, H.Y & H.A were the same size, Hj & Sacad Muse were the same size and also dhulbahante.
