If your ancestors were slaves = African-American
If you or your ancestors were immigrants = Somali (or whatever country name for that matter) American

Once you achieve citizenship, you will be an American nation with ethnic description of African-American or Black American. Somalis are just one of many black peoples, nothing special.

I would be offended If I was called African America. Unlike the Somalis, African american didn't come here at their free will and have history of slavery.
