I don't have any idea how strong the foreign influence is, but if its manpower and local support, Abu Mansuur wins it. Ali Dheere, and all the other ex ICU figures are sided with Abu Mansuur.

But I don't think this is anything that will get bigger than it really is, mostly it will be resolved, or atleast put on hold

Remember in today's Somalia that the muscle follows the money. Qabiil, region or any of that stuff has gone out the window. For the right price the average mooryaan (in religious cloaks or not) will sell you his mother and give you his sister for half price.

With that said, bear in mind that Godane controls the funding as well as having the undivided loyalty of the several hundred foreigners and several primarily Isaaq and other notherners.

Are you supposed to call an international terrorists on the lists of your own country as well as mine a "hero"?

With that said, if anyone in the Islamist movements of Somali deserves respect for being true to his principles it is Abu Mansuur. The man says what he means and does what he says, Godane needs to have respect for the man who gave his movement military strength. When Sheikh Sharif and Hassan Aweys were hiding in the bushes of Jubba from the Ethiopians, Abu Mansuur and his 12 year old boy (forced of course) were in the front lines in Daynuuney.
