Puntland provides services to the TFG that other groups can't can't. Who trains the TFG troops, where is the military academy located? Puntland. The best part of Puntland is that its far away from Mogadishu and the trouble which means that if you build a facility in Puntland or if you store weapons in Puntland, opposition groups can never touch it.

Imagine if in 2007 they built a military academy in Beletweyn or Baidoa or Kismayo, today it would be in Shabaab hands - do you see the problem? Puntland is like an external hard drive basically, you can put all your eggs in Puntland without worrying about losing them, but if you place your eggs in Cabudwaaq or Jowhar, you risk losing them. It comes down to that, Puntland provides consistent and secure services to the government that no one else clan. You just can't even begin to compare warlords and individual clans to a stable state with proper services and some level of accountability.

Ciyaal,
Abgaal are funny. Sharif chose the main advisor of the president he was fighting for two years as his PM. I think they want it lol.
besides the fatboy was very smart, he wanted that the foreign affairs of USA and the EU towards Somalia should be handled by Somalis and not Ethio's or Kenyans. Very smart indeed, hopefully the new Puntland PM finishes what the previous Puntland PM started

First good news media to say the issue is settled and it is Saacid who has firm support from the UN where he serves as UNDP director for Somalia and the Republic of Kenya where he lives and coordinates Somalia issues with:
Xilka R. Wasaarare oo loo magacaabay Saacid faarax Garaad

Kulankan ayaa Shariif Shiikh Axmed waxa uu xildhibaanada ugu soo bandhigay shaqsiga uu doonayo inuu u magacaabo R.wasaaraha kaasoo uu madaxweynaha damacsanaa inuu maanta ku dhaawaaqa waxaana xildhibaanada arinkaasi ay ka muujiyeen dhaliil....

Mr Saacid waa nin aqoonyahan ah isla markaana galaangal aad u weyn ku leh howlaha UN-ka ee la xiriira Soomaaliya, waxa u dhaxday xildhibaanad Caasho Xaaji Cilmi oo ah Haweenay Soomaali ah oo ka shaqeysa arimaha Xuquuqda Dumarka iyo Nabadda taasoo bishoo October 2008 ku guuleysatay abaalmarin la yiraahdo Right Livelihood.

Inkastoo xildhibaanada qaarkood ay ka madax gilgilayaan magacaabistaasi ayaa hadana waxaa in badan la rumeysan yahay in aanu sinnaba uga laaban doonin madaxweynaha go’aankiisa maadaama uu Saacid gacan ka helayo UN-ka iyo dowladaha safka hore qeyba ka mid ah sida Kenya oo kale.

Is Carmo still relevant? :? That was Abdullahi Yusuf era stuff before Shabaab. Now Somali troops are trained in Uganda by the EU. Besides the overall Police Commissioner who overseas such things and inaugurated Carmo for Abdullahi Yusuf is Gen Cali Madoobe (Marehan) and the man in charge of coordinating UN funds for such things (Marehan) is about to become Prime Minister.

Gen Cali Madoobe trains his Police in Muqdisho now.

Voltage, Carmo is still very active though only Puntland uses it because Sharif deferred his forces to Djibouti and Uganda, in similar style to when Cabdiqassim cut off Berbera. But despite it, Puntland won the right to host the new Somali naval academy in the works at the moment. We'll always find a way to sneak our way into old man Hawiye's bowl of cambuulo.

Paidmonk, Somalia is about how you take advantage of UN money and now with one of our men in the top legislative leadership position (hopefully), Dollow guys will find themselves with much better patrons and representatives getting a piece of the pie to get to Kismaayo. Somali naval academy will be based in Kismaayo when freed from Shabaab.

I don't know if you've been following the news but construction of the naval academy began half a year ago.

Personally I foresee the Dooloow guys making their way to kismayo again but with the help of an MJ prime minister. The chances of a marehan PM are very likely. The three suggestions I heard were - cusman maxamud, cumar maxamud, and a warsangeli who was a major SSDF guy.

At the End of the Western World will Decide who is the Next PM but what i will never understand is this, Why do Abgaal and MJ choose each other when clearly neither share's a border with the other Nor marries from each other. Atleast Marehan and HG is understandable since their Donkey's fuck each other so do they and thus obviously have some relation.
