bro,i agree with you, this whole dam project was Isreal's brain child, and they afforded the ethiopians with everything to make it happen from the technical expertise,to the political connections to secure the loan.while there is no doubt that the materialization of this project will bring egypt's economy on its knees, arabs are divided over this issue, even though they publicly don't admit it,into two blocks:
1) some arab states, like Saudi Arabia, want the project to materialize under the illusion that a weaker, aid dependent Egypt will afford them to be the next arab power house(typical Arab ency, and short sight)
2)While Egypt and its allies,on the other hand, see this issue for what it is "an israeli incursion of Egypt's food and national security".
and the sooner they realize Ethiopia has been/is pro Israel.they will realize that only a strong Somalia can keep/kept the ethiopians at bay for decades. and this my friend will give Arabs great incentive to have a bigger constructive involvement in the Somali affairs, and increase their aid to us to something close to that of the Palestinian authority.
this might be far fetched scenario,Allahu aclam, but these are my predictions ...

And LOL at the suggestion that Somalia will be able to take the place of Sudan and Egypt. That's rich.
The funny thing is that Israel also gets a share of the nile water, from egypt. Israell would also lose its share if ethiopia continued with their new contract. This is what is confusing the arabs

the israelis would rather see a dead enemy than derive petty benefits from it.

the reason why ethiopia always got preferential treatment from the west was to be a buffer against egypt, somalia was out of the qeustion always and it came as a surprise that somalia could actualy pose a seriuos thret to ethiopia. since somalia is out of the picture its time egpt felt the heat. 8-)

Booto iyo nus from the idiot with the bidaar...laakin, the source of the Nile is not in Egypt as far as I know so why should Egypt have control over it or make demands on anyone? To be fair Ethiopia has more of a right to the Nile than Egypt.

I agree with you also walaal. I think every coutnry is waiting for the war in Somalia to end. Because the world has moved on but Somalia hasnt. Nobody would care if we were a little insignificant country, but we are a big country in a strategic location that is important for the world. If Somalia would be stable and if we had a productive goverment that is aming to make Somalia a great country then we would dominate the horn.

One important aspect we need to see this from is that Israel is pushign the whole thing. They are currently paying alot of money to make saltwater to drink water. If they push Egypt from the lion share, they can make deals with Ethiopia. A funny little thing is that in the Torah it is written that Jerusalem is entitled to the nile water and will get acces to it through all times  Heres some articles that discuss Israels involvment:
