I remember my first wife......I never asked her parents.....for their daughter in order for me to marry.....we did what is called run away pride.....meaning we travelled more than a thousand kilometers....from Nairobi to Eldoret......and Nikkah was performed.....and then travelled back to nairobi...after two weeks....as a husband and wife.....I sent some othiyaal....to talk to the family of my pride....the rest was history....I think this practice still happens even today.... :)

Patriot like I said a researcher has to look every for information. Do u know the tradition when the man has to pay 20 camels to get his second wife to his first wife family. Somali culture is rich of traditions we youngsters dont know about.

Lol it is called kutbo siiro most scholars say it is not allowed, i guees ur marriage was not real marriage u commitid zina :o

I could tell you my favorite practice of the somali nikkhaah weddings among ogadens. it is involves a whip, to spank the wife if she doesnt like the arranged marriage. :?

Another funny thing....is that my second marriage....they looked for blood...on the sheets the following day....there was none....I gues she was not bikraa.... :)

These primitive practices are no longer in use.You dont have to pay 20 camels for a silly woman anymore.
