No, Iam in the UK. We going to Somalia for number of reason, one reason is to find a good location to open a Immunology and Heamotology Labs in Hospitals between me and my MJ and hawiye friends. Also we decided to visit for future intrest, but also for fun! I went last summer to Gedo and had the best time ever!

Inshallah me and 4 of my friends are going to Somalia as a group in the summer of 2011. We havent decided which regions we gonna visit, as 5 of us come from different regions. 2 are somalilanders Isaaq, 1 puntlander MJ, My self Reer Gedo and 1 Hawiye and she is reer Balcad. We are 3 guys and 2 girls. But we decided to enter through Nairobi before we go Somalia. So any members that want to join us? And if u want more information feel free to ask me. So Nairobi will be most likely the checkpoint and departure place. But we are still planning our route.

I can honestly say it was great. Much better than I had expected. By then the city was secured by the Islamic Courts, so no threat of kidnapping. It was my brother and I that went there because opportunity had presented itself to reclaim my father's properties and we did. We went to an ICU judge, presented legitimate papers of ownership, brought witness affidavits, old family photos of the properties. After a week, we had our properties back. We had buyers for them, so we sold them before we left.

The city looked very much devastated, nothing like I had remembered it from my childhood. It was utter chaos, people driving on the opposite of the road, market stalls in the middle of the roads selling everything from camel meat to fuel to qaat, no regard for personal safety, etc. But on the other hand, the people looked happy, the city was peaceful, I saw families on the beach at Liido. We also went to Marka and the road there was quite and peaceful. People had a zeal for enjoying life. Everyone had satellites, internet, cell phones, video games, etc. We watched the worldcup. It was a bitter sweet feeling when I finally left.
