Puntland were stupid that the Island which is just a few kilometers away from Bosaso was taken by Yemen. the Somali goverment filed a lawsuit at the UN to claim Soctra, I think that is why he is paying attention to it now, they neglected for so long, that they hardly any population and infrastructure.

If i had money i would buy this Island. matter of fact, the ownership of this Island came up in a discussion on SNET few years ago. many ppl claimed it belonged to us and that we ought to fight for it.

whats puntland got to do with it the brits gave the island away before there was a puntland or a somali repulic for that matter!!!

Socotra is not Somali land, never was, and never will be. Somalidu kibir badanaa. The island has always been part of sultanates part of Yemen especially Mahra. Even the people and their language are part of the many South Arabian semetic languages and people which exist in Yemen.

How can you buy an Island worth more than all of Somalia? Socotra has the third most endemic species of flora and fauna in the world after the Galapagos and Hawaii. It is too rich biologically for the world to allow coming under Somalia.

majority of the people are of meheri decent and live both in yemen & somalia the somali natives of socotra & bari have free access to the 2 islands and there have never been an issue of ownership of the islands.further more the islands have always been under meheri controll or mahra sultanate btw the yemeni presidents mother is from the island!!!

Warya, i can marry a Somali woman from Kenya and say Kenya belongs to Somalia? This is no dispute. If the yemen goverment thinks its ok to infiltrate Somali coast territory then the law must be uphold and they must have repercussions. The people will govern themselves but under Somali rule, as it is intended by the UN.

you have meheris in the somali & puntland goverments..you have meheris who are natives to bari and nugaal regions does make puntland or somalia part of yemen??? you a large somali minority in oman does make oman part of somalia???
